Freedom & NaNoWriMo

Hello, you wonderful people! Today is Saturday, October 30: the LAST DAY OF MARCHING BAND OHYES!!
La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! Virgil loves her flauta and NaNo too! That's Virgil's worrrrrlllddd!!!

It's a funny feeling: being free. After so many months of being slaves to our band directors and field commanders, we were beginning to forget what freedom was like. Our hands were becoming callused from carrying those razor-sharp podiums (we might as well have been picking cotton) and our blood was slowly turning into bloodsicles from being out in the cold every morning. BUT WE ARE NOW FREE and I am very happy indeed.

Today, as I have already told you, is Saturday, October 30th. This means that there is only ONE DAY LEFT UNTIL NANOWRIMO STARTS OHMYROWLINGIMIGHTACTUALLYDIEEEE!!

...yeah. That basically sums it up.
Also, Halloween is tomorrow. The 6LCF (or at least some of us) will be trick-or-treating together, because you're never too old to get free candy.

My grandparents are in town this weekend, so I'm not really supposed to be antisocial.

BYEEEEE
Peace,
Virgil

Six months heyyyy.

Heyy. Six months. Impressive, y'all. Half a year? I'm so proud *tear tear*

I dunno if any of you want to, but feel free to add things here...
Carrie: Quid? Whoops. Hehe, yayy!! Six months is a long time... That's like, half of a year. ^_^ Btw, sorry 'bout uhh, yesterday. That was my bad. ._. pweasedon'tkillme. and yeahhh, I'm kinda late on this, too. Ugh. I'm such a fail! oh well, yay. Happy time.
Lynda:

Momo:

Virgil: Six months!! Yayy!! I love you guys so much, and I think we should keep doing this forever and ever and ever until all six of us are dead. [And when we're dead we should try for reincarnation and then keep going?]

xiy: Whee, six months. Wow. It's gone by so quickly. It's like we just had the one-monthiversary, and now we're on the sixth. That's really all I've got to say. Long live 6LCF, I guess. I hope everybody likes the banner. Coloring things on Gimp is what xiy does when xiy is trying to procrastinate on stupid Moodle quizzes. ^.^

But yeah. Congrats to us for being super awesome.

Anyway.
Back to the actual holiday that's superdupersoon:
Happy Pretty-Much-Halloween :D
Today was the day where everyone at our school dressed up.  It could be turned into a pretty interesting data set, actually... you've got people that don't put any effort in [i.e. don't dress up], people that put a little effort [i.e. maybe, like, a hat or something], people that actually get together a costume, people that get together a legit costume, and people that go all out.  (The sub categories being things like: girls who want... um, attention from the boys; groups that legitimately try and then succeed in epicness; cute little couples that match cutely; groups of girls who all dress in the same tight minidresses with slight alterations; people whose costumes are a win win win win win; and people who are dressed actually not that much differently than they usually do.)

The only other thing I can think of is actually a question for xiy and Lynda, my Asian friend consultants:
We watched a tiny bit of this crazy-butt Chinese horror(?) movie in Mandarin I today. I was wondering if it's actually that friggin crazy, or if I just didn't understand the plot line. It's called, like "Painted Heart," or Painted something... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRe4Dk327wg is like the music video to it...?)

So... yeah.

Happy Friday, y'all.
xo
With all due respect,
House

P.S. NaNo is just around the corner! *evil cackling*

Finally, A Post That's Not Centered on Sleep and Greek-Dislike

Hellloooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been a while since I decided to post earlier than 9pm. Today, I've finished my homework!!! YAY, LYNDA!
Ok. Uhmm...yeah...I really don't have much to post about...I know! I've been wanting to rant about something, so I might as well do it here....*sheepish grin* Of course, if you don't want to read it, then you may just skip down to where I say, "Luv, Lynda" and pretend that I'm an angelic person who doesn't rant at all; never complains; and is always lady-like (pfft), polite (hah!), and lastly, nice(*snort*).
So in orchestra today, this girl was wearing horrid things. Just like she wore horrid things two days ago. Anyways, let me describe her to you. She's short and has big hair...kinda poofy (hah! Poofy! ha!). Anyways, she has a boyfriend, who is, like, 10 feet tall; it's quite funny seeing him and her hugging or, er, "necking". Today, she wore this pair of short-shorts that were so short they barely covered an inch of her legs. Good grief, it's not that warm anymore; it's FALL; it's AUTUMN; it's going to snow very soon; it's COLD. WHY THE FRICK WOULD YOU WEAR SHORTS, MUCH LESS SHORT-SHORTS?! That's not even all; she wore FISHNETS with her shorts. FISHNETS! They're like, the sluttiest thing you could imagine wearing (besides just your underwear, or, like, just provocative negligee or lingerie; and that would be....that would be...*shudders* that would be...definitely just for the bedroom, if you choose to do so, in the privacy of your room or house, in front of no one but you, and perhaps your...husband?...)SHE WORE THEM TO SCHOOL! IT'S SCHOOL, NOT A FRICKIN' CLUB! Jeez. FISHNETS! I haven't seen a person wearing fishnets to school, like, EVER! Not even outside of school! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok. I'm done. If you agree with me on this subject, I merely ask you to not wear fishnets and short-shorts to school. Especially not when it's not even 60 degrees out.
Luv, Lynda
P.S. For those of you who skipped down here cuz you believe I'm angelic, I think y'all are absolutely adorable!(Alliteration!)

SHOOP DA WOOP!

Hahaha. I'm kind of hyper, sorry.
Do you ever get that? Where you're like, tired, but you're still kinda hyper? Yeeeaahhh... That's how I feel right now. And I'm hungry, which unfortunately only makes it worse. >.<

Hehe! Guess what? Carrie's got a boo. ^_^ To the curly fries this is old-ish news... but to everyone else *cough* reding this, this must be kind of exciting. Well, not really. Sorry.

Uuuuhhhhh.... Well then. Ugh. I want food. And this computer is failing. and is kinda slow for a not-so-old laptop. (HP btw) And I have homeworrrkkkkk. Ew. It's not a lot today. Just English and global studies. No big deal, I finished Geometry at school. I really just don't want to do it. But I have to. Ew.

Oh!!!! Guess what's in 5 days (and in 2 days!). Halloween! It's kind of not a big deal, but it's still exciting. I *want* to go trick-or-treating but I'll probably stay home with a bag of gummy bears and do homework. All while possibly wearing a costume. (Heh, probably not.) Um! In 2 days it is the 6LCF 6-monthiversary. Yay! *Cheers* Hip-hip-hoorah! I personally find this exciting. Six months is a pretty long time. Maybe we'll make it to a year... and a half! Now that'd be something worth celebrating. ^_^

Anyhoo, I must be off to the wonderful world of... oh, forget it. I'm going to do homework, then eat, then go to bed. Yay. Now that sounds like my kind of night. Sort of.

DFTBA! <3

Smiles, hugs, and lots of love,
Carrie

P.S.- The last marching band/ football game is on Saturday! :( Which also means that concert season is about to begin! :) You know what they say: As one door closes, another opens.

Yay for optimism! :D

I am Procrastinating on Science Homework as I Type This

Because I do not like physics at all and my brain needs a rest.
We were doing kinematic equations today in science class, and even the teacher admits that she only memorizes the equations when she needs to teach a class. She says that after this semester, she'll forget them and re-learn them next year.

When even the teacher admits that there is no real use in memorizing kinematic equations, what in the world is the point of us learning them? They're just taking up pointless room in our brains; the practice problems waste tons of paper as well.
But whatever. Who am I to question the mysterious ways of the board of education?

I've got nothing nearly as grand as Momo's picture post. Though I did spend an hour in Gimp yesterday coloring the 6LCF Six-Monthiversary banner. The six-monthiversary is on Friday (October 29, 2010), and House should have a particularly nice post for that day (*elbowslazy!House*) It's quite exciting, actually. I didn't really expect Six Little Curly Fries to last this long. But it has, and it's nice. :)

FIVE DAYS UNTIL NANOWRIMO!! :S
TWENTY-FOUR DAYS UNTIL HPDH (AND LYNDA'S BIRTHDAY)!! :D

Today, House learned the parts of a compound microscope. It is a very exciting breakthrough for her, apparently. Hooray for House!

Uh, yeah. I should probably go. Sorry for the ridiculously short post; I've got homework to do. Plus, there's really not that much to say.

Goodbye.

Play-Doh Is Back!

Before you get all excited, I just want to let you know that I am extremely sleep deprived and that this post won't be as awesome as I had earlierly [I need to sleep] expected. But please enjoy:

Yo! What's up,dog? My name is Gangsta-Doh because I am a gangter made out of Play-Doh.I am so cool, yo. Sadly, some you nerds aren't cool, so it is my mission to turn you into gangsters. It took a while before I became one, but I'm the coolest of them all...

Where it says "in case you..." it should say "in case you get lost or forget your name".

This here is Gangsterus, a Roman whom I have transformed. Notice the grill(us) up on his teeth. This is super cool and swagger-y. Also, Gangsterus is wearing an XXL toga size (that is not a date). His sash is sagging and he is wearing two bullae (necklaces that little boys wear...normally only one, though). He also has a super gangsta tattoo with his gang name (SPQR) on it. With his sandals he is wearing socks. I think that means he's got swagger.

This is Captain Gangsta. He is wearing an outfit meant for women, but he pulls it off: Apple Bottom Jeans and Boots Wit Da Fur. He used to have an XXL white tee, but pirates wash their clothes in pee so it's a bit discolored. You can't really tell, but he also has a shutter shade eye-patch and has bedazzled his hook. Notice the careful positioning of his hat, about 50 degrees, and his nice smile. Also, if you're a gangsta, the rum is never gone. But rum is bad...don't drink it! And remember: if you can't wear bling, bedazzling is pretty much the same*.

My last client is Pa-aw's second cousin three times removed and also his brother. Notice the large white flannel shirt (it's almost no different than regular tees)and his sagging overalls. Also, his only tooth is a gold one to show off his bling. Now, this guy isn't as rich as most of us gangsters, so instead of wearing gold chains, he just took some corn stalks (not poo corn) and draped it over his neck. This works fine, as long as the corn isn't poo corn. Lastly, notice his Timberland boots. These boots are a signature gangster apparel choice and are great for the farm.

Teddy bears are the most gangsta thing around.

AAAH! This is what happens when violence occurs.

Momo's brand new Play-Doh.

And again.
Momo made this in kindergarten. I don't think her artistic abilities have improved too much...

 Rules of a Gangsta:
  1. Always kiss your mommy good night.
  2. Never drink. ** Or break rules.
  3. Have a gang sign: Good examples are the Nerdfighter sign and love signs like the ones on the right.
  4. Your clothes gotta look good; this means, where the clothes that I have because I'm the gangsterest person ever.
  5. Keep your gang members close and your teddy bear closer.
  6. Have a good handshake. Patty-cake is a good start.
  7. Listen to gangster music. Songs like "I love you, you love me" by Barney are super fly.
  8. Don't use dirty words like dirt, poop, fart, or hate.

Like I said, I am very tired. Hopefully a better Play-Doh post will come one day and I will be able to live up to the Hillbilly standards.
Hi. That's a secret.
-Momo

*It's funny, apparently "bling" is not a word, but "bedazzle" is.
** Well, water is okay.

Yum yum yum

Hello, citizens of the universe!

<theme song>
La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! Virgil loves frozen yogurt and sweatshirts too! That's Virgil's world!!</theme song>
Today's post is going to be a wee bit brief because 1) I want to go to bed and 2) it's difficult for me to type on my dad's laptop because the keys are spaces differently than I'm used to and 3) I don't have a whole lot to say.

I really like frozen yogurt, because it sounds healthier than ice cream even though it really isn't. For example, "today I had frozen yogurt" sounds a lot better than "today I had ice cream." Anyhow, today I had frozen yogurt. To put it more elaborately: today I had frozen yogurt that was red velvet cupcake-flavored and topped with a ton of cookie dough pieces, chocolate chips, m 'n' ms, crushes kit kats, crushed oreos, crushes crunch bars, and yummy caramel goodness.

Mmmmmm.

But it's still healthier than ice cream by far.

This weekend I'm visiting my sister at college, and I got a wonderful college sweatshirt at the bookstore that I will definitely be wearing to school on Monday. I feel exceptionally smarter whilst wearing it. (I also got college sweatpants and a pen.)

And seeing my sister was fun, too. <3 We leave tomorrow though, and this makes me sad.

Peace,
Virgil

The Scary Things That Hide in My Closet

Right, so.

You know how I went on and on last week about scary movies?  Well, it appears to be that the world hates me, since I've seen only twenty million and four trailers for Paranormal Activity 2.  And I'm still freaked the crap out.  (I'd usually take this space to put that last sentence into more colourful language, but the other Curly Fries already yell at me for my lack of censorship.)  And now I have a lovely lamp in my room right nice and lovely next to my bed, so I don't have to get in or out of bed to turn it off or on, making me completely-almost(-okay-not-really) invincible to any evil things that might, like, idk... bite my piccolo-playing arm off.
Or something.
I'd probably suggest for you to do the same thing, since these parts are notoriously famous for their monster-thing attacks.  Like, duh.*

And—zomg—another week has passed by, and I still don't know what I'm being for Halloween.
Dang.

In other news:
Our marching band will not be marching tonight; it's a pep band game, which means that we get to sit in the stands (not in icky, sweaty uniform, yayyy) and play when there are time-outs.  And stuff.

There were a ton of subs for teachers today at school.  (We watched a fun video about Newton [as in Sir Isaac] being an alchemist and Bobby Hooke being a butt about it.  Super educational.)  I guess even teachers think "Screw it, I'm skipping class," every once in a while, too.  Remarkable.
The only other thing that was that eventful today in school was this super cute kid that came and shadowed someone in my English class.  Thank you, Grilled Cheesus.**

I think that's about it.
So, yeah. Bye.

With all due respect,
Houose I just spelled my name wrong wow.

Post scriptum: Y'all are in for a real treat on Monday ;D

*Except for not really, I think... er, I hope...

**Oh, yeah.  I also started watching Glee this week. [*bandwagon*]  So maybe now I'll have maybe sorta kinda a clue as to what the frick Momo and Lee are talking about when they go off on their one hundred mile-per-hour "OMGWEREYOUWATCHINGLASTNIGHT?!?!?!?!" monologues.

Poetry Makes My Ears Go *BOOM*

Hiiiii....So today I wrote a poem, I'm going to post it. I know it sucks but I don't care. It actually just doesn't make sense....
My POEM:
Once upon a time,
There was a little lime,
He fell in love with a pear
But had to despair
For the pear was in love with the thyme.
Wasn't that fantastic?
Now, onto my post. Today was rather boring, so I won't write about it. I'm gonna write about poetry. (About Poetry, not WRITE poetry) Poetry...poooooeeeettttrrryyyy.....pppppppppoetry....pppoooooooooEtry.. ..poeeeeeeeeetry... POETRY...poetry? pooooooppetry...popopopopopopopopoppopopoetry. yeah...somehow, the thought of me writing about poetry for my post is just....weird. So, er, um, I'm gonna switch the topic...*mind goes blank* ya know what? I'm just going to call it quits for tonight. I'm very sleepy(hahahaha...House and xiy complained that lately all my posts have been about me being sleepy and me not liking Greek at this time....sorry, but I think it's going to be like that again), and I have Greek tomorrow....which I hate right now :)
G'night
Lynda

Save a tree, do less homework!

Hello.

Yup, I think the title just says it all! High school (I think we've established this fact) teachers just give way too much work. >.< It's stressful. Not hard, particularly, just incredibly stressful. Ya know, some of us actually have lives... *cough, cough* Everyone except me. ^_^ Lol. Jk. Or am I?

Ugh, I actually had stuff to talk about today! Why am I forgetting it? Hmmm... well, I have some good news. ^_^ but I don't think I should post it. Yet. Muahahahaha... ♥

Oh! Btw, apparently the 6LCFs have established some sort of military/ government branch like thing... Why? Make cookies, not war. :) Give hugs, not... uh, yeah. I personally think that we should make some sort of peace treaty for whatever conflict is occurring. And yes, I am being the peace maker in this situation.

*Momentary pause to check the ever so addictive facebook*

Okay, now where were we?

You know, can I just rant about homework some more? Because I really had a lot tonight. >.< And then I have stuff that's not due for a couple days that I have to do tonight since I have other stuff I have to do. Which does not make me very happy...

Apparently our 6th month-iversary is on the 29th. That's exciting, is it not? I think we should have a party. With a movie. My house, perhaps? We never celebrate at my house.* ^_^

* these last 4-ish sentences were directed to the 6LCFs only. Thank you.

Ummmm... I think that's about it. Yup. Okey dokey. Toodles!
DFTBA! ♥

Smiles, hugs, and lots of love,
Carrie

Twelve Days. Only Twelve Days. x.x

Meaning twelve more days until NaNoWriMo, of course. AHHH. I have discovered how one can simultaneously be excited for and also seriously dread something.
[Virgil, I'm sorry if I just gave you another panic attack. I just thought that the general, non-NaNo public ought to know.]
--
In math class yesterday and today, I (with the help of Virgil, House, and Lynda [though the latter two contributed their help during lunch and not math class]) developed a 6LCF Identification Guide; it is a handy tool that will help identify all the various species and subspecies of the Curly Fry genus.
Here it is, for everyone's future reference:

Species of the Curly Fry Genus
An Invaluable Resource!
**DISCLAIMER: This was written with flagrant disregard for Latin grammar. Please don't yell at me.
  • Fencing Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius fencii
  • Writing Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius fanficus or Curlyfrysius originalficus
    • NaNoing Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius crazii
  • Curly Fries in Band--Curlyfrysius musicalia
    • Flute-Playing Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius flautarum
  • Bilingual Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius bilinguus
    • Greek-taking Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius sleepdeprivdium
    • Latin-taking Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius romanae
      • Latin-Club Curly Fries Curlyfrysius romanae conventium
    • German-taking/German-speaking Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius germanius
    • Chinese-taking/Chinese-speaking Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius orientalii
  • Editing Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius grammaria
  • Curly Fries with Boyfriends--Curlyfrysius inarelationshipum
  • Asian Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius asiae
  • European-American (xP) Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius albatus
  • Curly Fries who have Bad Turrible Science Teachers--Curlyfrysius distraughtus
  • Glasses-wearing Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius myopius
  • Science Olympiad Curly Fries--Curlyfrysius nerdii or Curlyfrysius awesomus
  • Curly Fries with Siblings--Curlyfrysius sisteria
    • Curly Fries who are Older than their Sibling(s)--Curlyfrysius ancienia
    • Curly Fries who are Younger than their Sibling(s)--Curlyfrysius youngia
Obviously, each Curly Fry fits into more than one species.
I hope you enjoyed! :)
I was going to make a dichotomous key for this, but I haven't had enough time to do so (I've still got science homework after this, so I can't do it post-post [har]). Perhaps next week.

Anyway, I would like the other five Curly Fries to categorise (argh; now I immediately go with British spellings >.<) themselves along the lines of the identification guide.
Readers (if you care to comment), you can try to classify each of the 6LCF too; I guess this would make for some interesting how-well-do-you-know-us trivia games and such.
[If you don't want to comment with a Curly-Fry classification, that's fine too. It was just a suggestion.]

That's it for this Tuesday.

Goodbye, then.

A Letter From Princess Momo

Dear Curly Fries,
*gah!!!  pressing "Tab" doesn't work on Blospot!!* We need to talk.
  1. WE NEED TO START THE BOOK CLUB (well, not this month...or November...and maybe not December because of the holidays...) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OR I WILL DIEEE! jk
  2. I still think we need to have a theme week sometime soon (maybe this week?) so ideas in the comments, please. Some of my ideas:
    • Baby pictures/themes/ stuff from our youth
    • Short stories (for Virgil)
    • Oooh! That made me think of one xiy would like: comic strips!
    • Poems (I think Carrie would like this one, correct?)
    • Rants (for Lynda)
    • Posts about grammar in honor of House
  3.  We need to get on top of our game. Now, I know Poofy is probably reading this, so if you are Poofy, GO AWAY! If you are not Poofy go down to near the end of the post.

I TOLD YOU TO GO AWAY, POOFY!

Anyway, as I was saying: Poofy's blog. As far as I can understand, we're still at war with Poofy's land; therefore I find it necessary that we commit warlike deeds against it. Namely in the comments region. xiy and I have already started the bothering, and seems as if Poofy has given up on his nation and is no longer engaging in this battle. Basically, we won. And after only 8 of his posts. It's a shame that he  surrendered. Well, at least we can annex his land now (unless, of course he hasn't surrendered and is merely on hiatus). So, if  Poofy doesn't post this week, we won the battle! If he does post, please join us in the bothering so we can officially claim victory! I guess that means that he'll have read this part, WHICH I TOLD HIM NOT TO DO, and he'll probably fight against us. Do not worry,  comrades, we can be strong. There are six of us and only one of him.
       4. Build-a-Bear Flashlight Tag Weekend Extraordinaire, anybody? So, I think we have come to the general consensus via Facebook that we will be having Flashlight Tag on Friday, October 29th. What if we also did Build-a-Bear, like before we play tag with the lights? Please say what you think in the comments.

UPDATE: Dictator xiy told me that we can't comment in the comments about grammar and suchness as I was planning, so I guess we need a new idea so we can get this war going. And I didn't mean that in a malicious way. Just a fun blog war type thing.

I think this is the longest post I've had in a very long time.
Yours Truly, <--That's a restaurant in Ohio (I accidentally Googled it)
Secret Message: uuh. Hi. Finish this sentence: My favorite sport to watch is_________.
Momo

Saturday, October 16, 2010

I try not to think about nanowrimo, because when I accidentally do, I tend to have a panic attack.

Uh... I'm going to write this as fast as possible because I have a ton of work to get done.

NaNoWriMo... yeah. The title of this post kind of says it all. Thought process:
Me: "What shall I write my blog post about today?"
Urania (my muse): "Write about NaNoWriMo!!!"
Me: *has a panic attack*

<cue theme music>
La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! Virgil loves her goldfish, and beaches too! That's Virgil's world!! </theme music>

Saying "goldfish" was relevant because 1) that's the original lyric from Elmo's theme song, and 2) I'm eating goldfish right now. Actually, that's a lie. I just finished my goldfish.
I'm cool like Momo and I put secret messages in my posts. OHHH
Today, I helped pick up trash on a beach. xiy was there. It was fun. I really like beaches - I like the sound of the water. It's very calming. It wasn't an extremely legit beach (I'm not going to tell you which body of water it's on... muahahaha) but there was a lot of trash and gross stuff that we picked up. Without gloves. *shivers* We neglected to pick up anything that might contain bodily fluids, so I'm 95% sure that I don't have AIDS. Also, the weather was very nice for beach-cleaning-up.
House still hasn't sent me back my fanfiction. :P
I have to go get stuff done.

Peace,
Virgil

...I want to go back to Hogwarts.

being sick, nano fuss, and i hate horror movies

I be sick.

That's right, you don't only have to deal with Lynda's ill groans, but also mine.  Lucky little duck (<- THAT BE FORESHADOWIN') you.
I guess Curly Fries are a rather ill people this week.

THIS WEEK:
Start:
The soccer season is coming to a close!  As a team bonding thing, we all had a dinner and movie night at one of the girls'  house. Nobody told me beforehand that the movie we were watching was Paranormal Activity.  (A brief history of House and horror films: I saw my first one when I was in like fourth grade.  I don't remember if I couldn't sleep for three or four months, but it was one of the two.)  So I've been freaked the crap out for the past week.

(mood: freaked out. and really tired because that led to me not getting that much sleep. yayyy.)

Middle:
School whee.  (And Symphonic results were posted.  Yay, us.)

End:
Last soccer game and practice!!!  Our last practice was a few days ago; our very last game (unless we go onto regionals'... haha) is tomorrow.*  I must say that our team [despite my whining] has improved greatly as a whole since the start of the season.  So props to us.

Oh, yeah, and all of the writing people are fussed up about NaNo, which starts pretty soon, I guess.  (I'm not doing NaNo.  Last year, Momo, Virgil, xiy, and Lynda did.  All of them are doing it this year.  [Carrie: are you being a normal person with me and not doing NaNo?  Or are you crossing over to the dark side? :) ])

And then I got sick and missed our second-to-last soccer game [which was yesterday] and a football game I was supposed to march in.  And I didn't go to school today.  ([sobbing pitifully and generally in tears] I bet none of you even noticed I was gone! D: [/jk I'm not really that thirsty for affection.]) Eventful, I know.  Don't get too excited there.

So... yeah.  It's just been a brilliant week overall.
Hope yours was better.

With all due respect,
(a rather congested) House

LOOK IT'S A DUCKIE
(he's all like "zomgdude lolidk")

*Which I may or may not be going to.  Coughing and sneezing and not being able to breathe all that well tend not to really be the qualities of a super duper athlete.

An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away

*munch munch* I rather like apples.
So today I went to see my doctor for a check-up. As we were pulling up into the parking lot of the place (do I call it a hospital? Or "the check-up/flu shot/everything-but-the-hospital place", or the doctor's office?), the saying, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" popped into my head. All of a sudden, I'm like, hey! I ate 5 apples yesterday, why am I here? I also have a cough that is really annoying, cuz it's like, a cough that isn't phlegm-y, but is what happens when I can't breathe in any air. It's kinda like an asthma attack...do people cough during asthma attacks? idk, anyways, so I cough, and I can't breathe, unless I hold my breath, breathe until I feel like my wind tunnel's blocked again, hold my breath, then breathe again. That way, when I do it three times, there's enough air for me to cough one gigundous cough, and I'll be able to breathe again...for 10 more breaths, and then I have to repeat. Arghh. Typing proves to be so much easier. I can no longer laugh, cuz I'll run out breath-able time. Does that make any sense? *cough cough coughcoughcoughcough* *holds breath* *half a gasp* *cough coughcoughcough* *holds breath* *rush for waterbottle(acts as inhaler)* *half gasp* *drink* *sigh* yup. That's exactly what happens. It just happened....I hate being sick. I think, since I've eaten like, 30 apples in the past 3 days, I should not be sick. If the saying's correct, I should be healthy as a healthy horse! ARGHHHHH!!!! ok. That's all. I have Greek tomorrow, g'night!

Hello, I must be going...

Well, hello there!

I apologize for the incredibly short post. :(  but starting next week it'll go back to normal-ish length.

Guess who gets to be sleep deprived for 48+ hours! ^_^ Oh, the joy...
"Why?" you might ask. Well, you see tomorrow (Thursday) I get to wake up at the lovely hour of 5 30 AM for school and will be staying fully awake until 11 30 PM because of marching band. Which also means that I will be receiving less than 5 hours of sleep since I have to wake up at around 4 AM to be at my school by 6 AM since my exchange student is going home. *extreme sad face*

Although, today was a good/ bad day. even though I was entirely out of it the entire day I did learn a fair share of good news and have a couple of decent events (despite falling almost into the street).

Ugh! I give up on typing... I'm failing at thinking. I apologize. ):

Next week you'll probably be happier with my post. I promise.
DFTBA!♥

Smiles, hugs, and lots of love,

Carrie

There Needs to be a School Holiday in October

Because there aren't any in the school district in which the 6LCF reside, and it sucks. Columbus Day, while an extremely silly holiday (my opinion of Christopher Columbus is rather low), really should be an excuse to get a day off, but no. We still have to go to school. Ick.
On the topic of school holidays, it seems that as one progresses through the schools, one has fewer and fewer days off. In elementary school, there are four parent-teacher conference days in which one does not have to go to school (if I remember correctly). However, once one hits middle school, the number drops from four to two (or one? I don't remember; but it's definitely a lower number).
Also, in elementary school, there's a ton of professional days and stuff like that. Little kids want to go to school; they don't need all those days off.
Sure, we get early-dismissal days once a month, but that's only once a month and one still has to go to school, albeit for a shorter amount of time.

There also should be naptime in high school, because it would be put to much better use in high school than in kindergarten. [And then maybe naptime could be during gym class; I would very much support that change. There are only so many games of knockout one can stand before one loses one's mind completely.]

Fencing was very enjoyable. We started footwork much later than usual, and Virgil and I just sat around and talked for a while (Momo, sadly, did not attend). A few new people came today.
Oh, I found out just how terrible I am at arresting the motion of falling gloves. -.-;;

NINETEEN DAYS UNTIL NANOWRIMO! :O
[And, Poofy, even though nineteen days *seems* like a lot, it is most certainly not when one is talking about the onset of November and insanity. Two weeks and five days isn't nearly as long as it sounds.]

Not much else to say for today. Greek class tomorrow (in which we will learn about Dicaeopolis's big, brave boy named Philip; Xanthias, as always, will probably be his lazy, clumsy, Captain-Obvious self). :)

Back when we were young 'uns...

tWell, I suppose to many people we are still young 'uns...but this post is about when we were younger 'uns. What I am trying to say is that I think it's time for another theme week before NaNoWriMo starts. I was thinking about this when Virgil and Poofy were cuddling in the hallway before Greek class today and I don't know what you think. Here's the idea: We each put a picture of either 1.) our baby/little selves, 2.) a phenomenon of our youth (like Telletubbies, Pokemon, etc) 3.) An old picture of something funny or interesting. I don't know what you guys think of this, please write in the comments. I know some of you don't want to put pictures of yourselves up, but I think if they're baby pictures, it's okay. Just write what you think, okay? If anyone else has other ideas for other theme weeks, I really think we should have one.

Second order of business: October is almost over (ZOMG!) and we still  haven't gone to Build-a-bear. I think it is imperative that we go sometime soon so we can cross something else off the bucket list.

I haven't really got anything else to say. Except for congratulations to House for getting the only piccolo spot in our band, Carrie for getting into Symphonic Band (I don't know her chair), and to myself for getting first clarinet! :O  I don't mean to brag, for real.

That's all.
Secret Message: You are beautiful. :) Write your thoughts in the comments.

Momo

The Significance of Numbers

Hello, readers! Today's post isn't going to be about what I did today, even though it was a very interesting array of reasonably good flute-playing, certamen, and then extremely bad flute-playing. No: today's post is going to be about Virgil's love of numbers!!

*theme music*
La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! Virgil loves Certamen and numbers, too! That's Virgil's woorrrrrlddd!!!!!

As you may have noticed, today is October 9, 2010. Also known as 10/9/10 (in every country other than the US, this would be written as 9/10/10). This means that tomorrow will be the auspicious day of 10/10/10, which only happens every 1,000 years.
Quoth Poofy: " 'Tomorrow is 10/10/10; this day will only come every 1,000 years'... Oh yeah? Well, today is 10/9/10 and it will also only come once every 1,000 years, and no one is making groups about it.... -.-"
Admittedly, I changed up the grammar in the quote a bit >.> but that's basically what he said.

This Facebook status inspired my topic for today's post, which is: why do we have such an obsession with numbers such as 10/10/10, and why are these days more auspicious than every other day?
1. People like patterns. They are pleasing to the eye! This is why people enjoy looking at things such as marching band shows. Marching band drills are written in patterns. Therefore, they are pretty. Six packs are arranged in patterns, and people like six packs.
2. People, for some unknown reason, enjoy glorifying things that do not deserve to be glorified. These things include:
- professional athletes
- film actors
- the Twilight franchise

Yeah, actually, I only have two things. But they're pretty legit.

Um... I don't have much else to say. I'm going to draw a picture, because a picture is worth a thousand words.

It's Dumbledore!!! Yayyyy!!!!

Peace,
Virgil

GOT ME MAH HOT CHO CO LATE

Hello.

Yeah, man. It's autumnywinter, which means it's hot chocolate and Hulu watching season.  I'm sitting here and typing this and sipping some good old Swiss Miss Because I'm Wayyyy Too Lazy to Make Better.  And I think my mouth is like on fire.  Yay.

So... yeah.  Not much going on with me this week.  The only thing really is that Symphonic Band audition results are next week, yay for me and Carrie and Momo.  Uh, tomorrow's Virgil's day, and she's, like, super busy with Latin and band and stuff, so that'll be fun to read about.

Sorry about the lame butt post.  I think the extreme temperatures are affecting my brain thing.

Yeah, bye.

With all due respect,
House

I decided to put the quote at the end because Elmo's too much of a win not to have the last word.

"AN OCTAGON HAS EIGHT SIDES."

Oooh. Pretty

I was introduced to "Flurrious" by Virgil. So I thought, oooh, fun. I went to find other things like Flurrious, and out popped this cool place. I have made many pictures, for this post! They are of the Curly Fries' names. In the color of their posts. In order by day. Hope you like it. (cuz I took a really long time at this.) Though, there are some really cool pictures some people have done. I don't have the skillz for it...Enjoy!

Lynda

P.S. I'm going to Pittsburgh tomorrow! YAY! FUN! (for crew regatta)

RAWRRRRR!

Hi!

So... Um, I'm about to start working on a power-point presentation.

Today's Wednesday. Wednesday's are nice. So are power-points. And Sharpies. I like Sharpies. Do you like Sharpies? What's you're favorite color Sharpie? Or do you like all Sharpies? They smell funny, don't they? I better get started on that power-point. Heh, fun fun.

'Kay. Bye.

DFTBA!♥

In Which Virgil Learns to Fence!

"Bye-bye, boys! Have fun storming the castle!"
-from The Princess Bride movie
Today's post will probably shorter than my usual posts; I want to finish (or at least progress further on) my technically-not-due-until-Friday science homework, as well as study some for world history. So, yeah.

Like the title says, Virgil has learned to fence! Well, not really. Not yet. Today was only her first day. But, eventually, she'll improve and be good at it and stuff. Momo and I are very proud of her, y'know.
And now three out of six Curly Fries do fencing! Woot! :D

So, apparently I'm dictator, and apparently that means I have power. What sort of power, I don't know. I seem to be able to manage internal affairs to some degree (quite simple with only a population of six in the country), and I guess I can sort of execute laws, should I ever decide to actually make any. Stuff like that.
House is now my second-in-command, with the power to levy taxes and declare war. Of course, being House (heh), she immediately used her power to enthusiastically declare war on Poofy-Land. We still don't know anything about Poofy-Land, despite Virgil being queen of said country. In fact, Virgil's allegiance is a bit questionable; it's sort of like Marie Antoinette, except that (hopefully) Poofy-Land's people don't hate Virgil and Virgil (hopefully) will not get her head chopped off in the near forseeable future.
Oh, and Momo is the princess. We mustn't forget the princess!

After playing around with Picnik, one of my favorite procrastination websites (the others being various LJ communities, www.flurrious.com, the NaNo forums, various webcomics, and so on), I made another icon, which I will share with you guys in order to take up space and make my post look longer than it really is. ^.^
That's about it for today; I've got to go and not-procrastinate on my homework.

AAAAH!!!!! IT'S ALMOST (ish) NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!

I am so excited/scared/lost/pumped/nervous about the start of November. On the one hand (μεν) it is my birthday month and NaNoWriMo on the other hand (δε) it's NaNoWriMo! If you don't know what NaNo is, you are crazy. Especially since we've been writing about it for so long. If you still haven't figured out what this magical thing is, go here and check out all the fun stuff. Of the 6 of us, only four have competed in NaNoWriMo before (that being last year). Hopefully the other two (House and Carrie wink wink nudge nudge) will join us this year in the crazy writing that we all love so dearly. Now, I know that 50,000 seems like a small number from an outsider's stand point, but just to show how much 50k really is, this post is only 139 words. It may look like a lot but it's really only .003 of a NaNo novel. Don't expect long posts from us cool people in November....or possibly none at all...
More bad news: I have to post on November 1st. I post on Mondays. Therefore November 1st is a Monday and I have to post and write at least 5,000 words. Or that's my goal at least. Don't forget that November 1st is a MONDAY! We have SCHOOL on Mondays. We also have Greek on Mondays at 7:10 IN THE MORNING. This oughta be fun...

Guess what?!? Virgil might join me and xiy in fencing!!! Virgil came and checked out the class, but wasn't allowed to fence due to liability stuff, but she was able to learn some foot work and do exercises with us. I hope she joins because then 1/2 of the 6LCF will be doing a sport together and it'd be wicked awesome.
Secret Message #1: Poofy is a jocker!!!
Hmmm.
Secret Message #2: Virgil's learning Chinese :O
I really don't have much to say...I have to think of a NaNoWriMo plot.
Secret Message #3: If you haven't found these yet....wow. Anyway, write about your favorite food in the comments.
kbai.

Marching

Busy day. I marched in a parade with the Latin Club. Our float was the best, even though German Club won. Then I marched in the marching band at a football game. In the rain. A lot of marching today. It was fun.

It's October!!! Yayy!!!

DFTBA,

Virgil

This is a Picture We Drew

^This is the picture w/o text

^w/ text

Drawn originally by Momo.
Digital version by House.

(I'm noticing now that the black and white and grey and dark red make this look very xkcd-esque... cool.)

IT'S FRIDDAYYYY HOLLAAAA

"Looked me up and down/I don't make a sound/There's a lesson that I want you to learn/It's if you're gonna play with fire, than you're gonna get burned."
—The lovely Lily Allen, "Friday Night"

"I could bake a chocolate cake for you with tiers up to the moon"
—Alex Day <3 <3 <3

". . . let me give you some advice: when you want to use 'effect' as a verb, don't. Ever."
—John Green, professional G, yo

Hello :)

Lotsa stuff to say tonight, but I'll get through it fast, promise.

1) IT'S FRIDAYYYY!!! I mostly chose Friday because I loveee Fridays, especially after a particularly endless week. There's that lovely feeling when you think "Oh shoo, I've got homework-" and then realise that "-but that can wait 'till Sunday night, yo! :D "

2) Homecoming!!!!!!! Tomorrow's Hooomeeeeecominngggg for our dear school. Most of the 6LCF are too antisocial/lame/whatever to go. I think the only one of us that might is Carrie. Because she actually, like, has a life. Yay. Tomorrow is also the Homecoming football/marching band game and parade! Yay! Latin Club is marching, so let's all hope we can't feel our throats after tomorrow's cheering :) (id est, for Latin, not the football team. They kinda suck, but we're playing our rivals, so hopefully that will be enough motivation.)

3) A'ight, so they're all mad at me for not posting before. And they're just absolutely drooling over the idea of punishing me, so we'll see how that turns out. Virgil's idea is that I have to write 10,000 words (1/5 of NaNo) and share it with y'all. So... yeah.

4) I just got back from Hospice with our school's community work group thing, Youth Ending Hunger (Interact). That was pretty cool. Like, bad because it being hospice and all, but it was still like nice. They've got the most kick-a view of our lake, like, ever.

5) I SAW WAY TOO MANY SKINNY PALE LITTLE BOY LEGS TODAY. OHHH MYYY GAWWWDDD SOMEONE SAVE ME. Like, there was a boys' cross country meet today, so they all wore their uniforms to school. "Uniforms" = little jerseys and tiny shorts (with their boxers on display to the world) that'd give the California girls a dang good run for their money. Holy crap.

6) Our country is a failure. We took these standardized tests this week. In the language section, there was suchhh a low expectation for grammar and stuff like that. (Question one: Which is incorrect? A) I went to the store. B) I have been to the store. C) They have not yet gone to the store. D) We hadn't been done there to it the store. [*die* {Okay, it wasn't that bad. But the punctuation could have been so much better. Like, there might have been one colon[/semi colon?], and that was it. (Oh, and this lovely rant is totally correctly punctuated, yeah...)}]) [<- lol]

And... yeah. That's it, I think.

With all due respect,
House
