Dissolved Oxygen and Aquatic Primary Productivity

Yeah, so I have no idea what the title really means...

We're in AP Bio right now, and we're not doing anything at the moment 'cause we're in the computer lab waiting for instructions to do a lab.

(We, being House and me)

Damn, I haven't posted in ages.

Um, so, our huge APUSH exam is coming up this Friday ;A; and AP Biology exam is next Tuesday X_x

And um, yeah. So we have to do the lab now, bye.

Luv,
Lynda

P.S. HOLY FUCK I AM PANICKING ABOUT MY BIO GRADE HOLY FUCK IT IS NOT GOOD RIGHT NOW.

Sleeping is Good. So it Caffiene (Artificial Sleep).

HEY GUYS!!!!

Right, so before I get to my title...lol...let me first say that: IT DOESN'T MATTER IF WE DON'T GO TO THE SAME COLLEGE. Seriously, guys. as long as we stay in contact, and like, have reunions/vacations/roadtrips/meetups/skype/technology/email/thisblog/ANYTHING, we're still friends. Friends aren't people who are constantly next to each other. Friends are people that you know will have your back, no matter how far they are. Friends are people that accept your quirks, your faults, your weird little obsessions, and also they accept that even if they aren't RIGHT NEXT TO you...you'll still be their friend, and they'll still be yours. Actually, I take that back, that's what BEST FRIENDS are. They accept (almost) everything about each other, and know that although they all have their own lives, own personal friends, boyfriends, families, whatever--they're still part of each others lives. C'mon, guys. If I'm being this frickin' sappy and serious about something, it has to be true (I mean it...like, c'mon...ewww I'm being sappppyyy >.<). We'll always be friends if we want to be. It's like the Lamarckian Theory of Friendship! : D

(hahaha, I know that part of the Lamarckian theory of Evolution-wanting/needing=poof!evolution! is false...but we'll pretend otherwise, eh? On the bright side, I got that right on our Evolution Test today in Bio. Which, btw, I just took...T_T)

Anyways. Moving on to less sappy and happy and gushy-mushy schtuff....

CAFFIENE! It is GOOD FOR YOU. Ignore all that sh*t about stunting your growth (I ain't growing anymore...I accept that *glowers at Momo and xiy* and y'all just need to stop antagonizing me *continues to glare visciously at Momo and xiy*)...it's totally worth it if it keeps you from falling asleep/collapsing/dying during your day/AP BIOLOGY TEST. : D Yay!

See, I haven't had coffee/caffiene for like, years....but goodness, I needed caffiene today. For some reason (*cough* hehehe...I know said reason....*cough*), I was extremely sleepy today, and I was also SICK (still am...*sniffle*), my head hurt, and the general ickiness of being sick was there. So I got some Artificial Sleep-In-A-Cup. Also Known As: coffee/cappuccino. Hooray for human inventions!

Anyways...
gotta run.

Bye!

NHD and Other Stupid Things

Winter break is on the near horizon. That means only one thing in the minds of all students taking APUSH right now: NHD!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the fact that finals are coming up (like the Greek final on Tuesday (omg I don't know any grammar or vocabulary or history (but besides that I'm good (but there isn't anything else)))). It also means Latin Convention (YAY!!!!) is coming up (YAY!!!) and that we should start projects (BOO!!!) and listening to House pester us to memorize things (BOO!!!). We also have band concerts next week (Virgil, House, and I are on Monday and Carrie's on Tuesday) aaaaand my sister's birthday is on the 13th.

Bio teacher made my life today. We were supposed to have a huge test on genetic-ey things and suchness but no one understands it completely in our class (even Virgil and that's saying something). He decided to spare our puny brains and move it to Monday. Oh joy! Oh happy day! *skips around* Lynda and House still have it tomorrow though. Ha.

Tomorrow I plan to donate blood for the first time ever. I've been reading up the website and looking at information. I'm technically a few pounds underweight but if I wear shoes and drink a lot, no one will notice. I've been eating very iron-ey (not irony) foods to get good blood and drinking lots of water. I'm pretty pumped. Hopefully I'll be eligible for donating. :D

That concludes today's post.

So...Is the Theme this Week "Don't Post"?

Did I miss the memo? Is there a theme this week called "Don't Post"? That's unfortunate. I guess I won't post. <-- LIES.

I sit here in the library of our school typing this because it is Thursday, my day to post, and I have to go to study circles for bio and I would really like to post today and break this dry spell of not-posting from the rest of y'all.

Recently, bio teacher has been teaching us mitosis/meiosis and has been rather obsessed with...erm...female meiosis. He started the class today with "I'm so tired. Last night my daughter got the first of 400 meiotic cycles! IT'S EXCITING!" It would be very awkward to have a biology teacher as a dad (and even more as a husbad.Just imagine, "Wow! This is so cool! We are producing sexually! How interesting!"). ANYWAY. BAD IMAGE IN MY HEADDDD.

Holy omg. We have a huge bio test tomorrow and I'm freakin' out, yo, freakin' out!!!!

In other news, xiy just showed me how she and House completely TROLLED on MC's blog: www.michaelcowett.blogspot.com. They make me laugh.

In other other news, this weekend I shall be attending pre-thanksgiving with my family. It's only going to be the best time ever. I get to see almost all of my not-in-college-cousins (who I haven't seen in forever). We're gonna be partyin' up in thur. Yep.

That was a post,
Done.
Off to study circles maybe.

happy national dress-up-like-Bio-Teacher day!

I think that Momo has already mentioned in a previous post what Bio Teacher (as opposed to Other Bio Teacher, who is the biology teacher of House and Lynda and therefore far less cool) dresses like; for those who missed the memo and and don't feel like clicking the link, he basically wears a lumberjack shirt and carries around a gold (but probably not real gold) coffee mug every single day. Today, by popular agreement of our bio class, was dress-up-like-Bio-Teacher day, in which over half the class showed up wearing plaid. It was funny.

here is my interpretation.
Bio Teacher also bought us bagels, because we organized Bagel Fridays and nobody else wanted to bring them today, so he was forced into it. So it's like he's earning negative money for teaching us. ^.^ I had a raisin bagel and it was very delicious.

School was pretty dumb today and nothing very important was accomplished; after school, Lynda and I hung out with a fellow freshman nerd who, unlike his largely far-dimmer compatriots that populate my math class, has decided to take proper traumatizing ninth-grade geometry/algebra instead of being dumb and jumping up a grade. It was nice and we talked about how the high school library is terrible and also about grades, because no nerdy conversation can be complete without a conversation about grades.

(It almost made me feel popular. ^.^)

And then I went home and ate a lot and now I don't feel so well and I really don't want to do some dumb French homework assignment. And the IB programme is stupid. They need to work out their nouns and adjectives, because that's just stupid. (Speaking of the IB programme, there used to be a poster for it hanging on the wall of the school, but then the wind blew it off the wall and it broke a window, so now it is no longer there; that amused me to no end.)

In NaNo related news, my wordcount is at 7,115 (I haven't written anything yet today) and I guess putting up excerpts is, like, a thing, so here you go:

They ended up, oddly enough, with a minimum of fuss and explodey noise on some sort of damp greyish rock with enough terminal force to bruise a rhinoceros; gods not being rhinos, they got away with one slightly bashed shoulder (Rediculus), a copiously bleeding nose (Sors), various smaller injuries, and lots of pained not-wailing-because-gods-are-better-than-that. Rediculus ended up having most of the minor bashery and landing in a puddle as well, as Sors was the god of luck and it was probably about time that particular facet of his personality kicked in. It was only fair.

So, yeah, NaNo this year is about Roman gods. On vacation, only not really. Sort of. I don't even know. But anyway, I need to ask you Latin people quite a few questions once December kicks in and I actually start to care about realism.

Things that I Wrote Just Now

Hello! I'm feeling really happy right now. So I'm gonna talk about teachers.

Also, I have a lot of time so this post will be longer than the most recent 100 word posts we've been puttin' out. Aight.

I love my teachers this year. Compared to last year where many of my teachers were either BAD or meh or forgettable, my teachers this year just make me soooooo happy.

In APUSH today, our (House's and mine (my?)) teacher realized it was someone's birthday.
After a rather loud and squeaky rendition of Happy Birthday, he proceeded to skip (mind you, he's quite old) SKIP around the room while singing:
"Skip around the room!
Skip around the room!
We won't shut up until you skip around the room!"
With the birthday girl's arm linked in his. It was wonderful.

Next, he proceeded to tell us a story about how he "skipped around the room" with two sumo wrestlers in Japan and how his biggest fear was that they'd knock themselves out with their...their... man breasts (<---he said it like that). Also he drank 47 cups of soup and the sumo wrestlers drank about 700.

He's also a good teacher, though. I promise.

In other news: I am continuing to love biology. Not only do we (Virgil, xiy, and I) have an awesome teacher, but it's just all so cool. And it makes sense. And I don't think I've learned anything in science since 7th grade!

Additionally, Virgil and xiy and I are having a dress like Bio Teacher day next week. We even invited the honors bio class. It'll be splendid. We'll all look something like this:

Also worth noting was a quote that was something along the lines of, "I guess she [my daughter] decided to be a slutty pirate for Halloween" :(. Hahaha. Good times.

Which reminds me, Halloween is on Monday! I'm so excited. I'm going to dress up as Tigger and I know Virgil's gonna be Pooh and xiy might be Christopher Robin and it'll be so fun!!! This is the only time of year that I can really express myself. <---Actually, I hate it when people say that. You can express yourself whenever you want. No one's stopping you. On Halloween, however, you can express yourself through costume without [necessarily] being judged. Which is why some my former costumes have included being a tomato, a blade of grass, and grapes.
LASTLY: Sometime in the last day or so, the 7 billionth person born on this hur planet. Isn't it cool?! I mean, it is kind of scary to think that there are billions and billions of people on earth and that there are so many problems already and all that stuff. But 7 BILLION!!! I can't even count that high! I remember in elementary school when I found out that there were 6 and a half billion people. That scared me. It's just. Woah.
I have to eat dinner now. BYEEE

Loooooooooooove,
Momo

omg what am i doing

Hello!

... so I just realized I get to have the honor of posting on Halloween Eve. Eeeeeeeeep >.<"

It's been such a weird week! I have actually had (a few of) my evenings and nights free! No soccer! What! Ohmygoodness! (And Lynda still has lots of crew! Teehee!) It's been really weird. I've actually had time to start my homework, like, before nine o'clock pm. Soooo weird. What is this. No weekly sprints? What will I ever do.

*sigh* It's still been a really long week, though. Lots of things to be done >.<

My and Lynda's biology class did... err, not as excellently as we all were hoping to do on our scary huge cellular respiration test (*cue music* CELL RESPIRATION... WOO HOOO). Tomorrow I expect us to be attacking him with "Are you sure the answer key was correct?" "I said the same as hers/his, but I didn't get full points!" "No, you definitely told us in class that the answer was B! *sobbing*" "Whyyyyyyyy? D':"

Eghh. We'll see.
It's my bedtime now, however. Sorry to cut this post so short >.<
*quickly crawls into bed to hide from the scary Halloween monsters*

With all due respect,
House.

~♪ ♫ Cell Respiration woohoo ♪ ♫~

As you can probably gather from the title, this week in bio we've been learning cell respiration. And omgtherearesomanythingstoknowandtolearnaaggghhhI'mgonnafaaaiiiiiiillllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway.

Besides the every day bore of school and the stress of having a huge bio test as well as APUSH and Latin quizzes (that I still haven't studied for) tomorrow and an upcoming Greek test and English and Greek projects and NHD (omg) and all those other lovely things associated with the 10th grade...life's been pretty good.

I think today constitutes for a "Bad Things are in my Life so Pity Me" rant.
Latin/Greek teacher hates me. It's plainly obvious to other people too. She always singles me out with stupid things and tries to make me look bad. She also always thinks I'm not doing my work when, in reality, I have just been multi-tasking to the lovely background of her droning voice. In Greek she is the same way. She tries to correct my already correct statements. Then again, she does that to everyone. I am just so annoyed with her. I can't even put it into words. Gahh. That wasn't a very long rant. Lynda's more experienced than I am.

The other night/morning I dreamt in haikus!! My alarm went off on Tuesday very normally. And as normal, I fell back to sleep. After I wake up and then re-fall asleep, I have crazy dreams. For some reason, I thought that my sister had to write haikus for her English essay. Hers was:

Plate
Plate
Signify
For anyone who knows anything about haikus, you might notice that that ^ is not a haiku. I tried to explain to her that a haiku has 5, 7, then 5 syllables. She argued that plate has 5 letters in it and signify has 7. This clearly dumbfounded me. I continued to dream in haikus. I don't remember them. The End.

As a parting gift here are 2 real haikus:

There're too many steps
to learning bio such as
cell respiration

o.hai!

So... um... my birthday is kind of in 5 days. js. Not like I'm counting or anything. :P

Today, the 6LCFs' highschool's football team won their first game! :D It was incredibly exciting, especially since we don't usually win games. Like, ever. -.-"

I just watched a movie! ^.^ It was called Leap Year. If you're into chick flicks/romantic comedies, you'd like it. :P I'm a romantic comedy type of gal, so naturally I loved it. :)
On a side-note: I'm talking to Eggr, and he just told me that he'd watch anything with me, even a chick flick. ^.^ Okay, I'll stop now. :P

I am going to attempt to write a somewhat long-ish post. Maybe I'll actually succeed this time, unlike every other post that I said would be a long one. ...Eh, probably not. I apologize, I love talking and telling people about everything, but I'm just so lazy. It's horrible! Pweasedon'thateme.

Let's see... what can I talk about? I'm a really boring person, I don't have much to talk about. Maybe I'm just weird about what I put on the internet (IE: blog posts)

Well, there's a question I have: what's the real difference between i.e. and e.g.? I seem to always mix them up, and then I feel really stupid. I know e.g. is like "for example,...", but for some reason I always mix it up with i.e. and when I catch myself, I'm always wondering what i.e. actually means. It's like hydroxl and carboxyl in bio; they sound so similar, but they're really completely different. Well, kinda.
Eh, I don't want to get into that now. Bio hurts my brain sometimes. Plus, I studied for like an entire hour today for my test on Wednesday. *cue groans* I have a German test that day, too! D: *crawls into corner and gets into fetal position* It's not that I don't like either class, it's just those are my two hardest classes, believe it or not. (Well, German isn't THAT hard, neither is bio... but the tests are kinda hard, and if you can't tell, I really don't like tests.)

I'm enjoying the book we just finished reading for book club. :P I think it's brilliant.
I love that word. Brilliant. It's such a nice sounding word. It makes everything else sound twice as fantastic as it already is. Brilliant.

I believe that this was a very nice length for a post. :) I feel very accomplished.

'kay. Bye!
DFTBA! ♥

Smiles, hugs, and lot of love,
Carrie

Melodine's Elves pt. 2

So everyone was commenting about how pretty and white and shiny blogspot is and now I understand why! Wow. It's so different!!! And shiny. Weeeee!! Anyway, as promised, here is the rest of Melodine's Elves with commentary this time:

Now Melodine new [ooh that's sad] that these tiny houses were the homes of elves [obviously] so she just stood there [logically]. She did not leave for a few moments, she was about to leave but for some reason she just couldn't she wasn't stuck [really?!] she just could not let herself leave [oooh].
Then it came to her [?], "I must build some more houses for them" [yes, I'm sure the elves would love if a giant came and started using up their precious farmland to build mediocre housing without asking]she said to herself.
Melodine started working immetietly [<--ha].
Soon she was singing [omg].Melodine had a very beautiful [b-e-a-uuu-tiful]. Suddenly, she heard someone but it seemed like it was under her [omg she squished one!!] so she looked down and there was the smallest person, it was an elf!
Melodine was frightened but then she finally said to the little elf, "Who are you I'm Melodine" [a bit abrupt, don't you think?].
The little elf said "I'm the mayer [eeewww] of the town my name is Tisbe" [I wonder if Lynda helped choose this name...]. Melodine said "Nice to meet you Tisbe". Tisbe looked kind of frightened but he smiled and said, "I heard you singing and our village loves your company"! [...]
Melodine had no idea what to say or do. Then the little man went inside a tiny cottage with smoke comeing [I didn't know it was 'coming' until, like, 6th grade] out.

That is all I'll be writing for today.
Not only is there are HUGE bio-test tomorrow, but I also have to somehow study for APUSH and Latin all whilst accommodating the needs of a certain kitten that won't leave my side and is currently weaving in and out of my arms.

How I wish I was a cat. I wouldn't need to worry about the fact that my proteins are made of amino acids, that carbohydrates like glycogen and starch and cellulose are all made of glycidic linkages of polysaccharides. Agh.

Well, I better study some more.

GOODBYYYEEE!
I don't like this whole school thing very much.

Happy Birthday, House!

Alright now, let's all sing it together:
♫ Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you; happy birthday, dear Hou-ouseeeeeee~; HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! ♪

Today is our lovely House's birthday! Isn't that exciting? It is exciting. And Carrie's birthday is soon, and then all the Curly Fries will be the same age until November, when Lynda gets to be all haha-I'm-so-cool and gets a year older again. But at the moment, we nearly all match!

I actually drew this banner way back in July, because I was really bored and had nothing better to do at medical camp. Well, I did the sketch at medical camp, not the coloring. I did the coloring at home. ^.^

And Blogger's changed to be all pretty and clean and white and confusing and stuff! Does that count as a birthday present?

It's September now, but apparently the weather hasn't gotten the message yet. It was ~90F today, and the third floor of our school gets ridiculously hot in that sort of weather. And I just so happen to have French last period, which means I get to trek up the sweltering staircase (you can practically feel the steam; it was so humid today that paper started feeling soggy by the end of every class period) to a sweltering-er classroom while we reviewed the imperfect tense. Arrrgh.

But then it'll get cooler next week (I hope), so it'll all be good.

In Bio today, we had to do a lab about pillbug behavior. Momo, Virgil, and I named our ten pillbugs; the littlest one was Roanoke (the fattest one was Winthrop, the most rebellious was Anne Hutchinson, the two that looked most like each other were John Green and Hank Green, the skinniest was Delaware, the misfit-est was King George, and the meekest one was Canada), and it ended up dying, funnily enough. The pillbug we replaced it with was named Jamestown. :P

We were supposed to put the pillbugs in two petri dishes connected by a sort of hole-tunnel thing cut out of each dish so that they could move freely between the two (it kind of worked, but they kept escaping--Anne Hutchinson especially). A wet sheet of filter paper was put in one and a dry sheet in the other; apparently, the bugs were supposed to exhibit taxis and prefer the wet over the dry, but it didn't really work, because they just sort of wandered randomly.

(The wet-sheet dish was England and the dry one was America, because it always rains in England and because most of the bugs had American names anyway.)

And that's about it for today, I think.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HOUUUUUUSEEEE!♥

Hello!

THIS POST IS A HORCRUX!!!

To the Dark Lord: I know I will be dead gone long before you read this, but I want you to know that it was I (and Momo) who discovered your secret.

I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can.

I face death okay, maybe not death, but the threat of your anger in the hope that when you finally meet your match, you will be mortal once more.

                                                                            -x. i. y.

Hi there, reader!!!! My name is Momo and I am one of the six little curly fries. We are six bestest friends that are here to blog about our day to day lives. I won't say too much (because this first post will be written by us all) but here's a little bit about how this will go down:
Mondays: ME!!! Momo! You can visit my blog at
www. unicyclingmaniac.blogspot.com
Tuesdays: xiy
Wednesdays: Carrie
Thursdays: Lynda
Fridays: House
Saturdays: Virgil
I play soccer, clarinet, and I am a Hufflepuff. I enjoy reading, writing, being a Nerdfighter and a lot more. I don't have much to say now...but I will. BEWARE!!! Okay I will pass it on to xiy.
Hi there, this is xiy, formerly known as Archie (you can still call me that). I'm on LJ (ninenewmuses.livejournal.com), and...yeah. I'm a Ravenclaw (hypothetically), play piano (and trumpet; I'm also an honorary percussion player), and I have a little sister. I like doodling and I LOVE reading. I'm also both an editor and a writer. Like Momo said, this blog's going to be run by all of us, so if you see some strange arguing going on in the comments section, that's us (heh). And, that's about it for me right now; I leave further introductions to our next member.HI! I'm Lynda. I'm the oldest member of this group...by about 11 months at the most, and 11 days at the least...that's kinda cool. Anyways, I have two sibling, a little sister, and a little brother. They're annoying, but I love them a lot....awww...I play the viola, hope to play the flute, and used to actually learn piano (I'm on my own now) Like Momo+Xiy...when did she change her name???...said, we are the six curly fries, who will write together! I have my own blog, (rantingismymagic.blogger.com) and so I will be probably a bit chaotic until I get used to having two blogs. On the bright side, my day is THURSDAY!!! So, read my posts on Thursday, if ya like 'em. Soo....my hobbies. I ADORE/LOVE reading, writing, science, math, and I like drawing/doodling. Some days I draw lifelike things. Others, I doodle on my math notebook. Ummm, I think that's all, oh, and I'm the slightly cynical, pessimistic person. Xiy and House are the grammar control freaks, Momo's hyper, Virgil's a grammar freak as well. Carrie's an awesome person, oh, and Virgil's a Harry Potter freak (so am I, but I'm not too verbal about it). I'll let the next curly fry introduce herself now.Hi! I'm Virgil and I've attempted to post twice and have thusfar failed. I play flute and piccolo (and... *coughs*... acoustic guitar) I shall keep this brief. I like writing (especially Harry Potter fanfiction), reading, hanging out with the other five curly fries, going to church, LATIN, and being alive (in that order). My day is Saturday, the holy Sabbath, whatever you want to call it. I shall try to resist the urge to comment on my fellow curly fries' grammar. I am a RAVENCLAW and I originally wanted the color blue, but I kind of owe Lynda because she gives me curly fries every other day, so red works too. Here goes the next curly fry. It's my turn now, innit... alrightie, then. Hello ^_^ You may call me "House." I am the fifth curly fry, and I will be writing up a new post for here each Friday. My other blog is kapooshisthesoundofvictory.wordpress.com, if you would like to follow it. I don't like talking about myself that much. It's not interesting for you, the reader. So instead, I'm going to tell you a little story.
Once upon a time, there were six little nerdy girls all sitting together at a lunch table. They were being their nerdy selves and discussing blogs and blogging. Then allofasudden one of them raised the idea of a collab blog where all the little nerdy girls could post on their respective day. This made the six little nerdy girls (who loved curly fries) very, very, very pumped. And so, this is that blog. These are those nerdy girls. ("Lookie there!! Here comes the last curly fry now...")

Hiya! I am the last little curly fry. You, my lovely reader, may call me Carrie. I will be writing on all, if not most, Wednesdays following this one. I play flute, lacrosse and occasionally matchmaker (I'll tell you about that later maybe). And I love my fellow curly fries. Hm, Well I guess you've already gotten the 411 on what the deal of this bloggity-blog is going to be. Writing on our *respectable* days, being buddies (yes that includes you, reader!), sharing about our day and what not. I think that you may end up knowing us quite well. Maybe not. We be keepin' it real. like for real. teehee. Well, that is all. stay tuned... you might see another blog coming your way.
