Happy Chinese New Year!

Hey all!

I want to go to sleep, so this post will be relatively short :)

Today is the Lunar Calendar's NEW YEAR! Also known as CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!! YAY!!! My family had really yummmmmmmyyyy food yesterday and today: dumplings, seafood (you have to have this for the new year, it's to do with the word for "fish" and "plenty/extra" sounding the same-so if you eat fish, you'll have plenty/extra/surplus of GOOD THINGS/FOOD <3), nian gao (which is like, sticky rice cake things...mmmm) and lots of other delicious things. Anyways, that's really all I wanted to say. School has started again >.< Second semester is going, okay...Essentially, I am going to study really hard this semester, and get A+'s in ALL THE THINGS. This includes AP Bio tests and math tests...which I can totally do :)

For Chinese New Year, there's also this show/celebration/"variety show" on TV that my family watches every year. I couldn't find a video of it, but that's okay...
sooooo....that's all! I'll leave y'all with these lovely pictures! :D
Isn't that pretty? China makes really pretty things <3

Apparently, Chinese New Year/the Spring Festival is celebrated around the world now. This is in the UK.
While this isn't OUR table, it gives you an idea of how amazingly yummy and  how much food there is...
DUMPLINGS!!!
Common misconception...you don't "raise the red lantern" (lol) on Chinese New Year, that's for the Lantern Festival: the 15th lunar day!

Luv, Lynda!

It's 1/1/11 and Virgil hates birds.

Sometimes, especially at times when I'm being woken up at the ungodly hour of 10 a.m. on New Year's Day by the obnoxious squawking of birds, I like to imagine what the birds might be saying to one another.
This is how I picture it:
Bird Number 1 (posh British accent): Why hello there, Bird Number 2. How are you on this fine New Year's morning?
Bird Number 2 (rural Kentucky accent): HI BIRD NUMBER 1 IT'S NEW YEAR'S MORNING AND GUESS WHAT? I'M A BIRD!!!!
Bird Number 1: Well, young fellow, there's no need to shout.
Bird Number 2: I'M A BIRD!! ISN'T IT GREAT? WE'RE ALL BIRDS!!! YAYY!!!
Bird Number 1: Tut, tut, Virgil is trying to sleep.
Bird Number 2: HAPPY NEW YEAR, VIRGIL!!! I'M A BIRD!!!
Bird Number 3: I'M A BIRD TOO!!!
Birds 2 & 3: YAY WE'RE BIRDS AND IT'S NEW YEAR'S MORNING YAYYY

Oh, joy.

So today, we're going to have fun with Virgil's iTunes library! Yay!

This is a thing I found on Facebook. I'm sorry if it's really lame.

IF SOMEONE SAYS "IS THIS OKAY" YOU SAY?
"The Dark Mark" (From the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire soundtrack)
[Muahaha, I'm evil]
WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL?
"Can't Buy My Love" by the Beatles
[I guess that kind of makes sense]
HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
"Allegro Aperto" by Mozart
[I guess it's a pretty happy song....]
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE?
"The Point of No Return" from the Phantom of the Opera
[Wow, that's encouraging.]
WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO?
"Learn Your Lessons Well" from Godspell
[Wow, this one actually makes sense. Good job, iTunes!]
WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU?
"Fate Has Smiled Upon Us" from the Robin Hood soundtrack
[Haha yes, because you're friends with me, Fate has smiled upon you. I like it.]
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR PARENTS?
"The Chanukah Song" by Adam Sandler
[Well, uh, I guess my dad used to be Jewish, so... um...]
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT VERY OFTEN?
"Mistletoe and Holly" by Frank Sinatra
[It's true, all year long I think about Christmas!]
WHAT IS 2+2?
"Suite for Flute and Piano, Op. 116: III. Valse" by Bach
[Um, that was a stupid question.]
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BEST FRIEND?
"Hedwig's Theme" (the version from the first film)
[So I think my best friend is a faithful owl?]
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
"Fawkes is Reborn" from the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets soundtrack
[Um, I'm confused... but I guess Poofy could be a Phoenix. Haha]
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY?
"The Maze" from the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire soundtrack
[This totally works with the "dammit, how will I get out of this labyrinth?" from Looking for Alaska!]
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
"Dobby the House Elf" from the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets soundtrack
[This one is totally spot-on! I love Dobby!]
WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
If I said "I Want to Hold Your Hand," I would be lying, but it came like, third next on shuffle. The one that actually came on was "Felix Navidad."
WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day
[True that.]
WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING?
"Waltz" by Project Trio - a really cool trio with beat-boxing flute, cello, and bass. Yeah, sure, they can play at my wedding.
WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL?
"Ulcerative Colitis" by Hank Green
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
WHAT IS YOUR HOBBY/INTEREST?
"Harry's Wondrous World" (Chamber of Secrets Version)
So very true.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS?
"Tchaikovsky's Chinese Dance, The Nutcracker"
I suppose I have quite a few Chinese friends...
WHAT'S THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN?
"Girl Can't Dance" by Eddplant
Hehe. I love this song though <3 Story of my life.
HOW WILL YOU DIE?
"The Time of Your Life" by Alex Day.
Well, that's ironic.
There were a lot more, but I have stuff to do.
Best wishes for 2011!

2011... that sounds awk

It's the last day of 2010. Holla, yo.

Yes, my fellow Curly Fries. I am pleased to tell you that we have, in fact, survived another year. Kissed our old school goodbye for a terrifyingly new one chock-full of intimidating/inspiring/OHMYGOSH upperclassmen and teachers. Our ears were massacred by the magical vuvuzelas. The mythbusters kept on busting, feeding us information science majors/minors never seem to be able to. T-Swift's new album came out (ba da ba ba baaa, I'm lovin' it). And holy snood what the heck Sarah Palin's got her own TV show. Whatever.

Well, I spent a large amount of my last day of 2010 in the fetal position with a stupidstupidstupid body that gave me a tummy ache equivalent to the feeling of chugging a glass of hydrogen peroxide on a dare. (Ain't pretty >.<) But I hope you all celebrated accordingly :)

So... yeah. Nihao, 2011. Wassup.

And you all ready to get back to school and still be writing the wrong year in the little space where it says 'date: __/__/__'? I totally am.

Even though I've got to get back to the festivities (i.e. a family friend's legendary snickerdoodles.... ahhhhhh <3), I've got two questions to quickly ask you girls:
1) Any goals/plans/resolutions/oaths to be sworn/promises for the new year?
2) How the frick are y'all gonna pronounce it, 'twenty-eleven' or 'two thousand and eleven?' Because I personally think both sound tremendously awk.

With all due respect,
House.

heyyoo

Oh, hai there!

Happy Wednesday! How have everyone's holidays been? Good? Great.

There is currently a sprinkle of some sort stuck under my 'x' key... Meh. Now I have to press really hard to get it to show up. Haha, I swear, that's the only way I could say it for y'all to understand what I mean.

Hum-di-dum. I just got home from working on a German project. It was quite successful, we had usable material on the first shoot. :) Now, I can just sit on my bed, fold laundry, do homework, and listen to music for the rest of the day. And that actually doesn't sound too bad... Maybe I'll watch a movie later when I'm "done"*.

I have nothing particularly interesting to say. School starts back up in a couple days for me and my fellow curly fries (my fellow curly fries and I?). Eh, either way...
Yay, finals in two weeks. I'll probably start studying next week, that should give me enough time, plus the weekend. :)

Sooooo, whatcha doing for New Years? I heard Virgil's having a New Years party at her house. I might just chill at home with some friends, patiently waiting for the year 2011 to arrive in all of it's glory... Yep.

I think I'm gonna just go now... Nice talking to ya!
DFTBA! ♥

Smiles, hugs, and lots of love,
Carrie
