Happy Chinese New Year!

Hey all!

I want to go to sleep, so this post will be relatively short :)

Today is the Lunar Calendar's NEW YEAR! Also known as CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!! YAY!!! My family had really yummmmmmmyyyy food yesterday and today: dumplings, seafood (you have to have this for the new year, it's to do with the word for "fish" and "plenty/extra" sounding the same-so if you eat fish, you'll have plenty/extra/surplus of GOOD THINGS/FOOD <3), nian gao (which is like, sticky rice cake things...mmmm) and lots of other delicious things. Anyways, that's really all I wanted to say. School has started again >.< Second semester is going, okay...Essentially, I am going to study really hard this semester, and get A+'s in ALL THE THINGS. This includes AP Bio tests and math tests...which I can totally do :)

For Chinese New Year, there's also this show/celebration/"variety show" on TV that my family watches every year. I couldn't find a video of it, but that's okay...
sooooo....that's all! I'll leave y'all with these lovely pictures! :D
Isn't that pretty? China makes really pretty things <3

Apparently, Chinese New Year/the Spring Festival is celebrated around the world now. This is in the UK.
While this isn't OUR table, it gives you an idea of how amazingly yummy and  how much food there is...
DUMPLINGS!!!
Common misconception...you don't "raise the red lantern" (lol) on Chinese New Year, that's for the Lantern Festival: the 15th lunar day!

Luv, Lynda!

我是 A Curly Fry

Lol, so the title says "I am a Curly Fry"...I've just been listening to a boat load (geddit? crew? boat? hahahahahahhahaha--seriously though.) of Chinese Music, and one of them's all like, "A little bit of 爱情, 一点点的 wonderful!" And I'm just like...."ARGH. THE CHANGING OF LANGUAGES IS TOO MUCH!" *brain explodes*

I have problems when switching from Chinese to English then to Chinese again REALLY SUPER FAST. I screw up both languages when I attempt this. You have to give them Chinese singers a ton of points for doing that so fast and so well.

This problem of language switching also occurs when I'm super tired. Like, dead on my feet. It'll take me like, 10 minutes to figure out that a) you aren't speaking Chinese, b) you're speaking to me, c) I'm speaking Chinese to you, and you're staring at me like, 'wtf?" For example, that one day?

*flashback*
Lynda walked into a classroom. She went up to the teacher when Teacher calls Lynda. Teacher starts speaking to her. Lynda hears "你昨天的作业还行么?" In reality, Teacher speaks in a different language. English. "Was yesterday's homework okay?" Lynda replies in CHINESE. "啊?作业?我觉得还行。" Teacher stares at Lynda. "What?" Lynda realizes the problem.... "oh....uh....it was...uh, good?" Teacher: "Er....good. Good. Very good?" Lynda shrugs, a bit embarrassed.
*flashback ends*

So today in AP Bio, our student teacher (of sorts...she was never fully introduced, something about "mumble mumble local university contract mumble mumble....eh?) SPOKE. She's never talked at all, in, like, the past 5 or so weeks. We were all like, what? She talks? OMIGOSH. SO COOL.
Anyways...this is the extent of today's post.

Au revoir! (I just finished a french art project's notecards to prepare the speech...I'm sort of in like, TRI-LINGUAL mode...It's very...strange.)

Oi, you! You're a GIT, you know?

Ah...git. The UK people sure have nice insult that aren't too demeaning and vulgar to hurl at a person in public.

Today, dear readers, I woke up at 7:30 AM.
NOT willingly.
I woke up and stretched, and yawned, and smiled at the rising sun.
But not really, because it was cloudy.
Then I said, "Oh, it's so nice to sleep early, and wake early! It's refreshing."
Ha. LIES. The normal human ritual is to sleep late, and then wake up when hungry.
Then...we went to my dad's lab in a U-HAUL.
That was really cool.
The funny thing about U-HAULs, is that the one I was in had those awesome things where you twist the handle to operate the windows...
I spent like, half the ride going: "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" while playing with it.

Anyways, morning stuff over, I got to the lab, and started diligently reading my APUSH textbook.

Which, by the way, I've got 5 chapters left. Apparently last week's prediction of being done with it hasn't quite worked out...

Speaking of history, as I was finishing up WWII, I got to the part of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Horrible. The book just mentions that, "Oh, a couple thousand died on impact, and then a few more thousand dies from the radiation burns a couple days later." Not that I'm complaining (less reading for me!), but really, the bombs inflicted lasting effects that scientists aren't even sure about today, and the number of people that ended up with leukemia increased, and so many other things that could have been influenced by the bombs...it's just really sad that the book doesn't even touch those topics.

And then later on, America goes and tests an H-bomb? *sigh* Humans can be so self-destructive...Though some people tried to create an international atomic weaponry council, but the US and the USSR both were wary because of the whole Cold War that was going on...*sigh*

All this is interesting, but the textbook is confusing when it goes on about politics, because it jumps from major events back to the little political brawlings that influence different things, and the timeline is completely screwed up, and oh-my-goodness how many times can a man run for president, lose, and then spring back onto the campaign scene??? You'd think they'd give up already.

Speaking of giving up. I've nearly given in to wearing a sign that says: "MADE IN CHINA". Or maybe "YES, I'M CHINESE. I'M ALSO ASIAN." Stupid idiots.

Ah. The little miniature rant felt good. Even if it was only a couple sentences long. I'm having problems with my ranting because it's summer, and I just found a couple of good fanfics, and I'm almost done with my textbooks, and it's summer, and we're going to the beach for a whole blessed week....and I'm in a surprisingly good mood....

Good grief, I'm in a good mood. huh. nice.

So, I've been running on Saturdays (3-ish miles) with my crew team, and there's been 4 people, including me at the practices...2 of them being the team captains. Oh, how lazy people are.

On the other hand, I'm incredibly lazy too. I'm still annoyed that daddy dearest decided that since my siblings no longer have camp or daycare, we'd get up earlier and get to the lab earlier...EARLY AS IN, 7:30 AM. RAWWWWWWWR.

well. That was a totally pointless post. Hey, why don't we end it with a song?

It's Deathly Hallows, gotta destroy a horcrux,
everybody's looking forward to the movie, part two! *goofy looking smile with two fingers held up (imagine a peace sign, for those of you who are bad at numbers)*
Deathly Hallows, gotta destroy a horcrux,
everybody's looking forward to the movie.

Dobby's dead, Dobby's dead, NO!
Dobby's dead, Dobby's dead, HOW?!

Cry, cry, cry, cry.
Looking forward to the movie.

The movie which I've already watched! EEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Virgil's HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART TWO MOVIE REVIEW PART THREE will be up tomorrow! (I think, unless she can't post cuz she's in Scotland having FUN.)

-Lynda

P.S. I just read House's post...and OMIGOODNESS....

I WILL FIND THE QUILL. I WILL FIND THE QUILL. I WILL. FIND THE QUILL. I. WILL. FIND. THE. QUILL.

CONVE--Wait...I take French!

My darlin' readers!
---------------------------------------------------------
Just a little sidenote here. Please note the commemorative cursor that is the shape of Justin Bieber with his flippy hair. I have made that our temporary cursor to commemorate the loss of his hair, and 80,000 of his Twitter fans that unfollowed him after he cut his hair...
---------------------------------------------------------
LATIN-CONVENTION-IS-TOMORROW!!!

As many of you may know, Latin convention is tomorrow, and the Latin Curly Fries are going mentally insane... For example, my conversation with Momo today:
Lynda: Whatcha doin'? *huffs and puffs her way through 5 laps for crew*
Momo: Washing paintbrushes because o-mi-gosh-spirit-for-Latin-cuz-CONVENTION-IS-TOMORROW!!! *squeals* (imagine a high-pitched, super fast, all in one breath reading of the words "CONVENTION-IS-TOMORROW!!!")

Lynda: Erm...ok, why're you running with me then?
Momo: I dunno....but z-o-m-g-CONVENTION-IS-TOMORROW!!!
Lynda: Ahhh....
Yup. And then she goes off to wash more brushes, because CONVENTION-IS-TOMORROW!!!

Anyways, I had something planned out for this post, but...whatevs. Special circumstances and all, y'know?

Today in Orchestra, we had a lovely field trip to a library so that we could see/hear/be awed by this Haitian hip-hop violinist. He was supremely cool. I liked it. Then at the end, our awesome director, Ms. D (who is AWESOME!) went up and played a duet with him. Well, not voluntarily, one of the students set her up. They played "Amazing Grace", and it was just so...pure. So heartfelt and beautiful and absolutely gorgeous, the notes rang and you could feel the music, not just hear it because it was just so glorious...I could just go on about it, but really, it was just...amazing. Have you ever heard something and it was like that? I hope you do one day, because it was unbelievable, and it made my day...that and missing science class!

Speaking of which, I saw our lovely science teacher after crew practice today, and she talked to me. It was kinda weird, talking to her outside of class...I dunno, but I think that she's quite a nice person. She's just lacking in the teaching part. Oh well. Her car isn't as cool as she makes it out to be. It's actually drab and ick. Just sayin'.

Anyways, I went to Chicago this past weekend to get a shenzhen visa to go to Europe (for our orchestra tour), and I observed many things. I shall share the important ones with you.

1. Car rides were made to lull you to sleep. I swear I got into the car, and three seconds later, I was out!
2. Hotels are fun to compare with each other. I know they all seem the same, but there are the differences, and they're extremely fun to find...like the little complimentary shampoo bottles!
3. Complimentary breakfast is awesome. We always get hotels that offer them. The quaint counter with all this free food...so awesome.
4. Asians are frickin' geniuses. I'm not even being biased about this. We were at the French Consulate General, and these two Asians were getting visas also. One of them gets up and starts speaking FLUENT FRENCH to the lady behind the glass, and then after about 10 minutes, he says something in ELOQUENT ENGLISH, and then he sits down and starts talking to the other dude in COGENT CHINESE!!!! The dude was TRI-LINGUAL!!! Like, fluent in 3 languages!!! Jeez...and to top it off, the other Asian dude was doing math, and the math was like rocket science. I'm not even kidding. There were all these squigglies, and lines, and tons of numbers, letters, greek letters, etc. I felt incredibly stupid.
5. Chinatown is yummy. We ate there. 老四川 was the name of the restaurant, and it was soooooooooo SPICY!!!!
6. If China's people were as slow as Chicago's Shedd Aquarium ticket people, then they would be perpetually late...by years. You'd think you'd be faster at taking money and giving people a ticket. The line was curved completely around the whole Aquarium (and it's not a small thing. It's HUGE), and we got there early-ish! It took my dad 4 hours to get just inside the building!
7. Leaving a hotel room makes you paranoid about forgetting things. I checked every nook and cranny about 10 times, but I was still worried I forgot something.
8. Service plazas in Indiana (or the one we went to) are DISGUSTING. The toilets were brown! BROWN!!! We thought it was messed up pee, but turns out that the water was brown. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! It stank so badly...
9. Groping is not meant for service plazas. If you still have so much sexual energy, and you feel the need to pinch and then smack the ass of your significant other in front of 2 toddlers and a teenager....please please please stay in bed. Do not grope each other outside of your house/car >.<
10. Home is where the heart is. Yup. I still like my own bed better, my own bathroom MUCH better, and in general, my home better.
So...I should probably get to work on that outline that's due tomorrow...hehehe.

But first, 3 questions for all of you. Please answer in the comments.
1. What's tommorrow?
2. The day after that?
3. And the day after that?
*plugs ears to prevent hearing loss from the screams of CONVENTION-IS-TOMORROW!!!*

G'night!
Lynda
P.S. We still have Greek tomorrow...*sigh*
P.P.S. omg...I forgot about Science Olympiad Regionals! They're on Saturday. We gonna diiiieeeeee....*shrugs* I don't care that much, as long as I win personal medals! :)

Finals. Are. Tomorrow. *shrieks*

*stare in disbelief* sooo...I just wrote a paragraph, then had to go and eat dinner, but...the post is gone! Argh!
Oh well...
The Curly Fries have finals tomorrow! We have World Language (French, Latin, German, Chinese, etc.) and History. I'm not worried about my French finals, as it's not really that hard. I'm a little worried about my history final, there's a DBQ(Document Based Question), and while those aren't hard, they take forever. They're really quite annoying. Argh. I'll get to it when I get to it...
In other news, a certain friend of mine and a certain friend of mine were flirting with each other! :P So cute. Female was showing off her skills at badminton (though, her skills are NOTHING compared to my skillz), and Male was acting "funny" and purposely missing for Female's attention :) It was hilarious. Carrie and I had great laughs about it. We've decided they're going to have a Spring wedding, with rainbow colors.
Physics, ah, physics. This afternoon, Virgil, Momo, xiy, and I all went to science study circles so we could prepare for the science finals(as none of our teachers taught us enough). We were struggling, and then this amazing teacher came and helped us! Our troubles all flew away, and we feel smarter, at least, I do. So, I would like to thank that teacher (whose name I do not know >.>). If you are not quite sure if you're that teacher, ask yourself, "did I help a group of 4 girls-freshmen, on a problem about specific heat?" If yes, you are that teacher! (Also, the answer was 4E^1 degrees Celsius, had something about copper being put into water...) THANK YOU TEACHER THAT HELPED ME/US! I'm sure we would all like to shrink you and bring you along to our science finals...*sigh* wish that could happen.
Last week I promised that I would synopsis-fy this Chinese drama I watched...I lied. I'm way to tired/busy studying, and I also need to sleep, so that I shall be awake for my finals tomorrow. I'll try for next week, because it's really hilarious, and I want to write about it. (Though, if we do what I think we might be doing, I'll have more interesting things to write about. We'll see when next week comes, capish?)
Luv, Lynda
P.S. Like the dividers? The last one could be us! 6 girls! :) I call being the 4th from the right, the tallest.

Hello everyone.
The topic of my post today was inspired partly by something I heard in English, and partly by my personal life...which is not a happy topic! You can just forget about me expounding on it.

Sidenote: I'm currently listening to "Starstruck" by Sterling Knight...It's somewhat weird, because I'm positive I heard a 4th grader squealing over how "hawt" Sterling Knight is....*shudder* It's not like he's not cute, he is, it's just....I don't remember having hormones in 4th grade. Did I? (that is to Momo+xiy, who knew me best back then)

A General Overview of the Stereotypes about:
China, China, China. Chinese ppl, Chinese ppl...jeez, when will people stop talking about them every frickin' time they think about the "less fortunate", the "smart", the "censored", the "Communists"? It's not like we're the ONLY less fortunate. There are rich people in China too, you know? There are stupid Chinese people too, but hey, y'all (please note I am not talking about the Curly Fries when I go and generalize all people. They've been well trained to not think of China/Chinese people all the time as said stereotypes...) don't even THINK about that when you're talking. Censored? Come on. Sure, we aren't that "free" in our web searches, but hey, that doesn't mean we're living in a frickin' cement block. Just cuz these couple o' anarchists in China are stuck in jail with a speedy trial, doesn't mean that y'all should go like, "awwwww". Whaddya think your government does? Give them a teddy bear and a room at the Ritz-Carlton? NOT. Lastly, so we're a Communist country. Big deal! You're a not-exactly-capitalist-not-exactly-socialist country. It's not like Chinese people criticize y'all for that... And then BLAMING. YOU GUYS ARE BLAMING THE CHINESE because your country is in DEBT. YOU OWE CHINA A TRILLION FRICKING DOLLARS. Well that's just great, print out a trillion dollar bills in a couple hours, and just hand them to China! But hey, isn't that kind of mean because the dollar is worth so little now? The value of the trillion that China lent the U.S. is so much more than what the U.S. would be giving back in a trillion dollars. It's just so...idk...I'm giving up on this topic...
Ok...that last paragraph was maybe a bit of biased ranting...But seriously, I'm TIRED of it.
Things I am SO F***ING TIRED OF:
1. The "ching-chang-chong" phrase. CAN YOU GET ANY LESS CREATIVE? IT'S NOT EVEN CHINESE!!!!
2. Making inappropriate remarks just so you can see the Asian's reaction. Well I've heard worse(Chinese people are vulgar on the streets, even when I was little), and I don't give a damn about what you say. I don't CARE if you've got one of two balls.
3. "Can you say something in Chinese?" I'm fine with it if you're innocently and curiously asking. I just don't feel like it. But when you say it in a voice that implies I'm an illiterate non-English speaking creature, I HATE IT.
4. STARING because I'm Asian. DUDE, YOU'VE SEEN AN ASIAN BEFORE.
5. "Are you two sisters?" (refers to xiy+I) Just because we're both of the same race does NOT mean we're related. That would be like me asking African-Americans, "Are you brothers?"(I changed the gender, cuz it's more often the boys who ask this)Or asking a Caucasians,  "Are you sisters?" (more often the girls...blondes, a lot of the times :))

Phew! That was a lot of ranting and pent up frustration/anger/tears all piled together into one huge post...Oh well. It was fun to write :)

NaNoWriMo wordcount: 8300 :D (STILL AHEAD OF VIRGIL!!!!!!)(Edit from Virgil: Actually, as of when you posted this, I was at 9,583 ^_^ muahahaha)
Last sentence: Her calico fur rippled, and some places began showing a pale, hairless, human skin.
Love,
Lynda
P.S. I had to copy this from my blog as I forgot I was signed into my account...grr

Six months heyyyy.

Heyy. Six months. Impressive, y'all. Half a year? I'm so proud *tear tear*

I dunno if any of you want to, but feel free to add things here...
Carrie: Quid? Whoops. Hehe, yayy!! Six months is a long time... That's like, half of a year. ^_^ Btw, sorry 'bout uhh, yesterday. That was my bad. ._. pweasedon'tkillme. and yeahhh, I'm kinda late on this, too. Ugh. I'm such a fail! oh well, yay. Happy time.
Lynda:

Momo:

Virgil: Six months!! Yayy!! I love you guys so much, and I think we should keep doing this forever and ever and ever until all six of us are dead. [And when we're dead we should try for reincarnation and then keep going?]

xiy: Whee, six months. Wow. It's gone by so quickly. It's like we just had the one-monthiversary, and now we're on the sixth. That's really all I've got to say. Long live 6LCF, I guess. I hope everybody likes the banner. Coloring things on Gimp is what xiy does when xiy is trying to procrastinate on stupid Moodle quizzes. ^.^

But yeah. Congrats to us for being super awesome.

Anyway.
Back to the actual holiday that's superdupersoon:
Happy Pretty-Much-Halloween :D
Today was the day where everyone at our school dressed up.  It could be turned into a pretty interesting data set, actually... you've got people that don't put any effort in [i.e. don't dress up], people that put a little effort [i.e. maybe, like, a hat or something], people that actually get together a costume, people that get together a legit costume, and people that go all out.  (The sub categories being things like: girls who want... um, attention from the boys; groups that legitimately try and then succeed in epicness; cute little couples that match cutely; groups of girls who all dress in the same tight minidresses with slight alterations; people whose costumes are a win win win win win; and people who are dressed actually not that much differently than they usually do.)

The only other thing I can think of is actually a question for xiy and Lynda, my Asian friend consultants:
We watched a tiny bit of this crazy-butt Chinese horror(?) movie in Mandarin I today. I was wondering if it's actually that friggin crazy, or if I just didn't understand the plot line. It's called, like "Painted Heart," or Painted something... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRe4Dk327wg is like the music video to it...?)

So... yeah.

Happy Friday, y'all.
xo
With all due respect,
House

P.S. NaNo is just around the corner! *evil cackling*

Back Pains, Ice Cream Socials, and Kindergarten!

HI! Today at school, I realized that my posture had become like an old crone's. I straightened my spine, and felt pain. At which point, I panicked and decided that I had developed a rare case of Early Years Arthritis (EYA!). My backpack is way too heavy, and I have way too much homework. Is that me complaining? YES!
Ah, next point. ICE CREAM social! I went to that today, and signed up for various clubs. They are: Latin Club-Although, I don't know why. I don't take Latin, don't speak/write/read Latin. I only know a bunch of Latin freaks who peer-pressured me.
French Club-which I have a legitimate reason for joining, I take Latin French(great, now I'm writing LATIN for everything!) so I understand it a bit.
YEH-Youth Eat Hunger?  Youth Evaluate Hair? You Even Hurl? Ah, I forget what it means. Which just says that I'm not doing it. I'm not quite sure why I signed up for it...
Women's Crew AKA Rowing. It's actually a sport, and I already signed up for it, so.. yeah.
Last topic! KINDERGARTEN! Mysister went to her first half-day at Kindergarten today, and she was so proud of herself when I got home today, (This is where you go, "Awwww"!)and I went like, *SQUEAL* OMIGOSH, YOU'RE SO CUTE! *SQUEAL*!!! Then, I realized she's growing up, and I overreacted. *SOB* *WAIL* *SNIFFLE* "You're growing up before my eyes, and I'm just blinking, and you're almost 5!!!(I said 5 like it was 50) You're going to be going to first grade soon!(Said first grade like, some-faraway-land's-college-where-I'll-never-see-you-again!) *WEEP* *MOAN* *CRY* *SNIFF SNIFF*
Yup, done now! Tomorrow, I'm waking up at 6:20 to get ready for Greek...which starts at 7:10, and I live, like, 2 minutes away (walking moderately) from the school. So, I'm kinda being early. Maybe I'll change my alarm clock to 6:30 or 6:40...Maybe I'll just decide not to take Greek, after tomorrow. IDK what I'll do. I do know I need to go to sleep NOW or I'll never be able to wake-up tomorrow!

G'nigh'!
 晚安!<-for House, as a test.

Wait... whut?

"一个小熊猫,叫 Martin,吃很多糖。你好,熊猫! 我爱你!"*
^The full extent of my Chinese. Besides mad counting skill.
— My 小组课 at the Chinese language immersion camp thing I was just at for two weeks (lolz, that's probably not grammatically correct at all. Sorry, xiy and Lynda.)

Hi.

So... yeah. I've been at camp, which is why I haven't been posting. But now I'm home. Yayy.

The first thing I notice about the blog is that there seems to be a certain lack of blog spirit, as shown by the shortness of recent posts. [-hypocrite-] At first, I was like, "Oh, hey, someone should give them a nice little dose of Curly Fry spirit!" But then I was like, "Oh, wait. Yeah, not me." (And that sums up the past bit for you nicely.)

Anyway.

Uh. Not much has happened. Oh, yeah, except that A Very Potter Sequel came out TWENTY TWO HOURS AGO! And I've had stuff going on today, so I haven't seen it [yet]. I'm probably going to devote my night to watching AVPS. (But, really, I haven't really done much. The only legit thing I've done is soccer conditioning. Lots and lots and frikkin lots of it. And I edited Virgil's prologue. But that's about it.)

... and I guess we're not doing the questions thing. Whatevs, cool.

With all due respect,
House
