Hide and Seek Rules and Tips From a Master

Hello, every and all persons reading this!!! It's Monday!! Booooooooooooo! I can't wait until our first anniversary so we can change our days. I hate Mondays!! ♫
%%%%%%
House is forcing me to memorize words in Latin. Do you know how hard that is? No, you don't. I don't think I should have to memorize it. It's not even funny. Whatever.
%%%%%%
And now on to the substance of this post:
On Saturday, after a fencing tournament in which I got 19th of 31 people, my family went to a friend's house. They have three kids--one my age, an eight-year-old, and a six-year-old. So, naturally, after watching funny videos on YouTube and eating dinner, we played Hide and Seek. Now, being the Hufflepuff that I am, I am a particularly good FINDER. What J.K. Rowling forgot to include about Hufflepuffs, though, is that we are also beasts at hiding and are, therefore, the MASTERS of Hide-and-Go-Seek. Back to the story: As I was hiding in my master spot, I was thinking about writing a novel about the strategy to hide-and-go-seek. <--This happens quite often. Instead of writing a novel, here are my___ tips to becoming a master of hide-and-go-seek.
For The Seekers:
1.) When you are counting, listen for faint footsteps of your prey*.
2.) Start looking in the room closest to you in the most obvious spots. Then check every nook and cranny.
3.) Go to a different room.
4.) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have found someone/all people.
5.) While you walk about, listen for noises like breathing and heart beats**.
6.) Tell a hilarious joke to see if you can get a chuckle from your prey.
7.) Once you have found the first person, bribe them into giving away the location of everyone else.
8.) If none of these has worked, you have two choices:
a.) Give up because you are a failure.
2.) Tell everyone that you have a grenade that will go off in 3...2...

For Hiders:
1.) As soon as the seeker starts counting, RUN!***
2.) Get as far away from the seeker as you can without leaving the boundaries that you are limited to.****
3.) Once you have run away, find a room that looks like it may have many hiding spots.
4.) Make sure none of your friends are close by so they won't give you up later.
5.) Look at the lighting in the room and find a shadow or dark corner.
6.) Curl yourself into a tiny ball as far away from the entrance as possible but in a good hiding spot still.*****
7.) Cover yourself with objects in the room.
8.) If all else fails--stop where you are and cover your eyes. Remember: If I can't see you, you can't see me. This is trickier than it seems, so I included pictures to aid you in learning:

YAR DOIN' IT WRONG!!!! This boy must be stupid. He is covering his nose, not his eyes and would, therefore, be easily found.

This boy is a little smarter than the last guy. However, the seeker would still find him because he is able to see (If I can't see you, you can't see me)

This boy, although young and inexperienced, is doin' it right. He cannot see, so the seeker will not be able to see him.
mOMO!!!

I hope this has been useful and that you are able to further succeed in your hiding/seeking skills.
*If you hear very loud obnoxious footsteps, your prey has most likely developed some brains and is trying to trick you.
**Most people, not having Hufflepuff finding skills, are unable to do this--which sucks for you.
***One may also speed walk or crawl.
****The reason for this is because if the counter goes from room to room in an orderly fashion, you are less likely to be the first to be found/ the LOSER!!!
*****One may also choose to stay near the entrance. If this is your choice, make sure you are out of direct line of sight.

Virgil's new favorite animal & the use of Latin in daily life

SHABBAT SHALOM, EVERYBODY!!!

La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! La la la la, la la la la, Virgil's world! Virgil loves her dragons, and Latin too! That's Virgil's worrrlldd!!!!
Okay, I have three things to cover in today's post. Here's Thing 1 and Thing 2:

Just kidding. That's not what I'm talking about today. But look - aren't they adorable?

Okay, here's the second (third?) thing I'd like to discuss.

This is not just any dinosaur, my friends. This is a reconstructed skeleton of the dracorex hogwartsia, my new favorite animal.

According to Wikipedia (and of course, everything on Wikipedia is 100% true):
Dracorex is a dinosaur genus of the family Pachycephalosauridae , from the Late Cretaceous of North America. The type (and only) species is Dracorex hogwartsia, meaning "dragon king of Hogwarts."
Get the reference? You're a winner.

It's just the most epic thing I've ever seen.

OK so earlier today I was at a bat mitzvah, and we were talking about teachers' tenures.
Someone said, "I don't get what 'tenure' means. Why is it called tenure? What does it come from, Greek?"
Me: "It probably comes from the Latin teneo, to hold."
Person: "That can't be right. Why's the 'u' in there, then?"
Me: "Maybe it's derived from the third principal part, tenui."
Person: "Oh. I guess that makes sense."

LATIN WIN!! We're going to beast at the Certamen invitational tomorrow.
:)

Byeeeee!!!!!

teehee

(We're sitting in our school's computer lab right now. It's Chem. And I'm bored 'cause Lynda, Momo, and I finished today's lesson already. I'm typing on one of those Dell keyboards that's black and bounces and makes nice little clicky sounds. I must admit, that's probably the one thing I like better about Windows than Macs. But moving on.)

Our swim team bleached their hair last night. (One of them being Virgil's boyfriendddd.) It's always fun to walk into first period and see a head of (once black hair) corn-ish-y-yellow-blonde? hair atop a proud swimmer's head.

Today is Friday!!! Thank goodness.
If I was super awesome and cared enough to go through with something like it, I would totally invent a religion/philosiphy/whatever of Fridayism. Because I definitely belive in Fridays.
Friday is the best day of the week 'cause it's the end of a terribly long school week and work week and doing icky, horrible things that take effort. It leads to the weekend, which is lovely and filled with sleep. (Unless you're in Saudi Arabia or Iran. Sorry, guys.) And Friday the Thirteenth can be fun 'cause everyone freaks out.

Also, the period's about to end, so imma go and I'll be back when I get home from school and then I'll finish this. Kay? Kay.
...
Alright, I'm home. (And I've remembered how to use commas...)

So. Yeah. Besides me being deathly, pitifully sick with a sore throat, things this week have been pretty good. I'm getting back into the journaling sort of thing every day, and I've slowly also been picking up on editing.

Ohmygoodnessgracious. I know what's also new.
In Global Studies (History) class, we got to meet our pre-student teacher (or whatever) person. And he's super cute. Like, he's even, like, actually a football player. It's pretty exciting, since Global Studies is already one of my favourite classes. [Teehee.]
He seems pretty nice, too. *crosses fingers* Hopefully, he'll also be good at teaching. Trifecta much? I think so.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend :D

With all due respect,
House

P.S. Next week will be a crash-course in basic-basic PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE etiquette. Lynda, xiy, and I sat through a... painful lunch period that reminded me I had been wanting to do something like this.

YAY! A VIDEO!

Hi! So, I've just downloaded a software called CamStudio. It's this thing that records your screen as you do stuff on your computer...I've made a video for y'all! Hope you like it. I was bored, and couldn't figure out what else to do for this post :) Awww...the thing just told me that the audio won't work. Sorry guys, y'all will just have to miss the sounds of beans getting squashed...The whole video's just really random. Maybe it'll be interesting to watch.
I'm annoyed. I can't /find/ the video on Youtube. I JUST UPLOADED IT!!! ARGH. Oh well...If I find it, I'll post it.
Luv, Lynda
P.S. We had an Orchestra Concert tonight. The Chamber Orchestra(advanced one) sounded so much better than the one I'm in...I'm the only Asian in the String Orchestra(not-as-good one). I feel so...not-as-good...Oh well. We had fun, and our music was still pretty. Even though Chamber had a piece that was half and hour long... :O Sooooooo long. Sooooo good though.

uh. yeah.

Well, hi there!

Happy Wednesday, y'all. :D

Today was the second day of "try-outs" for the play that I hope to participate in. :) Yesterday was pretty fun. We did a lot of "getting to know each other/theatre" type stuff. And there were only those couple moments of awkwardness. ;)

Uh, I'm tired. Yeah... I would have soo much more to write (I actually do, but I'm way too lazy right now).

BTW, 6LCF has been up for nearly a year! :D *excitement*

yeah, I'mma go now. Bye.

DFTBA!♥

Smiles, hugs, and lots of love,
Carrie

hello, all and sundry

So, erm, right. Yeah. Right. Tuesday. My day to post. Oh gosh, what am I supposed to write about?

Well, we fencing Curly Fries skipped fencing today; or, more accurately, we were there for fail!footwork (they do things called "snakes" now instead of footwork; I suppose it's similar in theory, but snakes aren't fun at all) and then snuck out to do homework instead of actually fencing. There were, like, a ton of people there today, and it would have been terrible trying to find any working, fitting equipment.

I watched Virgil take notes about the Dalai Lama, read part of a book she had about Tibet, watched Momo do science homework, and sat around. I had homework too, of course, but all the necessary materials (textbook, Greek stuff, my brain, motivation) were all at home.

It was, all in all, a very enjoyable experience.

You know, I really don't like the middle voice. Even though a lot of verbs have different meanings when put in said voice, a lot of them are implied and confusing and  "the subject verbs itself," which is basically what the middle voice is, just sounds so wrong. Sigh. Why does language have to be so complicated?

Okay, fail!short!rant is over.

Remember how Momo said in her post that finals are over and we can breathe without having panic attacks? Well, that may not be true. All the teachers are now firmly in "SECOND-SEMESTER-OMG-YOU-NEED-TO-COMMIT-YOURSELF-TO-DOING-WORK-AND-SETTING-GOALS-BECAUSE-IT'S-ALMOST-THE-END-OF-THE-YEAR-OKAY-LET'S-START-TALKING-ABOUT-JUNE-FINALS-NOW-OKAY" mode, and they've been assigning essays and projects like crazy. It's really annoying. ;_;

At any rate, I think I'm done.
G'bye.

Facebook, Cheats, Free Pet Dinosaurs, and the Answer to the Meaning of Life

Hello, everybody! I almost forgot to post today. Oopsie daisy!! Anyways, finals are done and we are finally able to breath without having panic attacks every 10 seconds (or at least I am). I'm just kidding, though. Of course, now that we are done finals, our teachers have found it necessary to assign projects, new ways of outlining chapters, and, naturally, more homework. I mean, honestly, who has time to breath without panicking anyway? As far as I have heard, I think the Curly Fries have done very well on the finals. Gah. I don't want to talk about them anymore.
What's been new in your lives? I haven't really done anything new and exciting recently. I might go to a fencing tournament this weekend (xiy and Virgil should come too), I failed a Greek test, and I decided with my mother that Pet hospital daycare would be a lovely vocation when I grow up. Maybe have the animals and chilluns playing together all day long. That would be fun.
I really wish I had some structure to this post but I don't. *sigh* I also decided today that I should finish High School a year early so that I can go and live in some exotic place like Canada for a while. Canada is crazy. They have meese running all over and they drink maple syrup like it's coffee. I also hear that there is a high cannibal population. Well, I am going to go now. Maybe I'll do some of that homework laying around. Who am I kidding? I'll let the homework be--it's far too late to do that stuff.
[FAIL POST]
 Love me. Bye!
